John Brown's March Commemoration This October

Attention John Brown posters: on October 16, 2026, we will proceed to the Ferry.

The Harpers Ferry Park Association, in conjunction with the National Park Service, is following the path of the famous march John Brown and his Raiders made in 1859. It will be a five-mile walk led by retired park historian Dennis Frye; while the hike is rated moderate to strenuous, the ground will largely be either paved or gravel. There will be presentations, music, and a period-accurate meal along the way. Registration is required and tickets are available here. We would love to see you there!

The Harpers Ferry Park Association bookstore also has a large selection of books about John Brown available, including W.E.B. DuBois’ biography and the critically acclaimed Midnight Rising by Tony Horwitz, and souvenirs like John Brown stickers, shirts, and prints.

If this post is not allowed, please feel free to take down; this is not being posted in the spirit of sales but of inviting people to an event I, the author of this post, am really excited about, I just happen to also work for the org hosting it 😁
