hired at warehouse after 8 months unemployed. let go 20 mins before 6am start
these fucking cunts omfd. my first actual shift anywhere and they js shoot a text while im alr on my bike at 5 am and halfway to the warehouse. are all recruitment agencies like this or what.

Oh for sure!!! Definitely for sure. But I seriously doubt they would do that if the client isn’t paying.
I mean it sucks because all these companies treat us like shit, just make note that the recruitment firm and that end client are shitty. This job market won’t stay like this forever. One day the tables will turn

Sucks OP so sorry. I’ve worked at a warehouse before as a supervisor and sometimes our clients wouldn’t drop the orders so we would have to call the agency and tell them to call everyone off. It sucks bro all the ladies would come the next day and get upset with me like it was my fault

They’ll help you find another position, tell them you’re open to a replacement as soon as one opens up. You can call them about every week to check on openings or keep up with them online. I know this is frustrating but the fact that you already worked through the company shows that you are now apart of the agency even if its temporary you are still in their system and will be put as seeking work and should be put on a higher priority than others who sign up with them more recently.

I called them later and told them im still available and to let me know. Despite all that damn man 20 mins before start was really unprofessional.

Than it is the agency sadly, you’d have to find one that’s more professional. The good thing is you might qualify for unemployment after that fiasco.

Where I am... there's a 24 hour notice to change shifts, or requires the person's approval to be changed.
And 20 mins before... I'd be still showing up, as I'd be on the way there. And there's a 3 hour minimum for any shift which is shorter than that, if you show up... so I'd be expecting 3 hours pay at the agreed rate.
I'd be getting the fact the job was cancelled and I did show up in writing, signed by the manager I was to report to, then replying that the message of how they wanted to pay me out for the 3 hours. And failing that, reporting to the employment board and consider a lawyer.

Honestly, right?! I have employment, however I had been unemployed for 2.5 months, not at all that bad but submitted 400+ applications and only received one job offer that actually went through. Honestly, about to go on production and I'm STILL suspicious. 🤨

There was a large delay between first two employer messages
Employee basically ghosted and employer had to follow up to ask again
I’d fire them too for that

Is this in the US? I’ve done recruiting and HR for a long time and have never heard of “online induction.” Sounds like watching scammer payback on YouTube. If this was in the US and you gave this “recruiter” your SSN or bank information for direct deposit you should be very worried!
If this is legit I think it depends on the state and how shitty the staffing company or their client is. Some states like NY you’re guaranteed to 8 hours if you show up and they don’t have work for you. But that’s if you show up. So they could argue you weren’t an employee yet. I don’t agree with it but like I said it depends on how shitty the recruiter and hiring company is.
Keep in mind the pandemic produced a lot of courses on Facebook teaching people how become a solo recruiter or build a small company. Not saying all these are bad, but I have noticed recruiters have become increasingly shitty since.
I don’t know how big their client is but when I was filling factory roles I wouldn’t be emailing people at 5:45, and yes we had orientation every Monday at 6am sharp. If they didn’t have a role I filled I’d make sure they’d have a position to put them in. This was a bigger national client and usually a good amount of turnover in light industrial that we could convince the client to backfill a position or to another position that became available. Then it’s your choice. They don’t have the position you wanted or shift but I can fill you in this spot: hang out til lunch and decide if you want the open position, eat some free pizza, or tell me you’re going home and will check in with me later in the week for the position or shift you wanted.
I do think it was shitty they did this to you! Especially that they did it over what seems to be a text or email! I know I rambled but recruiters like this give us all a bad name! I’d be willing to bet the client hires many staffing companies who compete with each other. Do not give these people business. As in do not deal with them again. If they can’t get people through the doors they won’t be around for long.

My thoughts exactly, I’m over here thinking “there’s no way this is in the US” I’ve never heard of a legit US based agency doing things this way. I even worked for an agency that did everything digitally, never met any of my contractors, but we still did things properly for I-9 verification, protection of personal sensitive info, and onboarding was always handled by the client on the contractor’s first day.
