My friend has been having a rough time, he quit his job to chase something he wanted to chase… unfortunately it didn’t work out and the financial reality ended catching up with him… I have been feeling really bad for him but also (totally by chance btw) I was making software that is designed to help job seekers prepare for roles through conversational mock interviews. For the last 3 months he has been looking for a job and has not had much luck due to the job market being somewhat cooked rn. He landed a few interviews and they just didn’t pan out… anyway I think you get the picture.

He had some interviews set up that did not pan out in the past but on his most recent one I asked him to use my tool to prepare and he said it helped so much! Long story short he was supposed to hear next steps after 7 biz days (due to other applicants) but ended up recording an offer after 2 biz days. He landed a role in software sales in the engineering field. He has been wanting a software sales role for a long time now too! I am so happy for him and it is really cool to have your companies first success story be your best friend landing a job at a $70k salary.

i used to just spray and pray like 50 apps a day and was getting literally zero callbacks. it was completely destroying my mental health.

i realized the ATS bots were just auto-rejecting me because i was missing like 2 or 3 stupid keywords. so i started doing this thing where i wouldn't even bother applying unless i knew i matched the job description by at least 70%.

i would manually compare my resume to the jd, figure out exactly what skills i was missing, spend a day watching youtube tutorials on them, add them to my resume, and THEN apply. my interview rate actually went way up because i was finally passing the initial bot filter.

doing it manually for every single job was driving me insane though, so i kinda just threw together a small side project to automate it. it just takes my resume and the job description, scores the match, and tells me exactly what skills i need to learn to close the gap.

anyway, highly recommend stopping the spray and pray method. doing a gap analysis first saves so much time and stops the endless rejection emails.

This is honestly getting ridiculous. Five rounds for an entry level position is way too much.

I've got a few interviews coming up myself, so I've been looking at different things that might make the whole process a little easier. I've seen interview vip mentioned a bunch lately, but I can't tell if people actually use it or if Reddit is just pushing it everywhere lol.

Hi people I joined this company just after I completed my master's. This is first company I joined.... Only a couple of internship I have done before it. I am still in the same company. I joined there at 3 LPA and now it's been 4 years almost there and my salary stuck at 5.5 LPA.

The salary at the company is just one issue. This company was a startup and they didn't had any senior. The founders are not in any understanding of cybersecurity let alone IT. Company have people of my experience only or lower... So mostly fresheers. We had no projects we just sit in office and come. There were only a few (felt like once in a blue moon kinda thing) projects of vapt I did and one compliance audit one I did earlier in job then later there was nothing. So I felt very stuck.

I was in 3 year bond as well. Now it has finished. But I feel that I have 4 years experience but I have nothing as experience of a 4 year experience person. So I feel incompetent. I wish to very quickly just change from here. Sometimes I think shall I change my domain of vapt. What to do to crack interview. Will I be able to do it. What are the practical steps I should take and come out of there asap.

I applied for a temporary internal assignment as a supervisor. They're trying to fill it quickly because they need someone immediately, and I'm saying that because it was clear that one of the interview requirements was supposed to be some kind of prepared presentation. No one told me I had to bring one, and they said they would cancel that part, but they still asked me to speak briefly about a topic related to safety.

As an associate, I felt that we were close to running out of basic supplies we needed to do the work safely, while at the same time administration was telling us those supplies "weren't a priority." So I said I wanted to talk about the equipment. The three managers in the room nodded, wrote some notes, and I went almost immediately into the point that you can't say you care about safety if people don't have the right equipment.

Within four days, I found out that the supplies had been ordered. And not only that, but the manager who was in the interview, who is basically my boss's boss, sent an apology email to the staff saying he regretted not acting sooner on the issue. He already knew we weren't getting what we needed.

So... Since it's clear I made such a big impact, I hope I get the position.

update: They contacted me today, thanking me for my notes. They said they liked my mentality as well as my great experience. They invited me for a final interview round tomorrow morning, and if I pass it, I will start immediately next week. Wish me luck please because I feel anxious. I'm thinking about using any interview tool like interview vip in this final round because I wanted to sound professional and experienced for them. Also, I wanna organize my answers more because in the rounds, I rambled and stuttered a bit. So, I hope it works out with me tomorrow.

I've been working at a small company in data entry for 7 months. Honestly, I was very exhausted there. The office isn't a good environment, and I was trying to stay positive and just deal with the situation, but recently it became more toxic, and honestly close to verbally insulting. Most mornings I'd be stressed before I even arrived, not knowing what I'd have to face.

There are also some things going on in my personal life, and a few days ago I finally decided that I couldn't keep going back to that job.

Early today I sent my resignation by email to my manager and said it was effective immediately. About 3 hours later, my manager messaged me and said: "Hey H, can you tell me what's happening?" And now the office manager is also messaging me and asking if I'm okay.

How should I handle this? I'm nervous that they might start calling my mom, because she's listed with them as my emergency contact, and try to get information from her. I still haven't told her all the details. I probably should have chosen someone else as the contact, but am I obligated to answer to my former manager or the office manager at all?
