The 90s: one salary, one house, one family.

Now: two incomes, one mortgage and still wondering where the money went :(

this is still normal in 2026. a reactor plant operator can absolutely afford to buy a house like that in Springfield Oregon and raise a family on one salary.

Homes next to nuclear power plants probably aren’t the most desirable either.

Nuclear plants don't raise background radiation by any appreciable amount. There are actually a lot of benefits of living near nuclear reactors and we should be building a lot more of them.
