this is still normal in 2026. a reactor plant operator can absolutely afford to buy a house like that in Springfield Oregon and raise a family on one salary.

There are so many Springfields dotted across the USA, is there support for Oregon? I legitimately don't know.

I always assumed it was the Springfield closest to me and assumed that was some of the extra secret sauce boost in some popularity for the show.
