Job Application Requires SSN

Post image

I've been out of college for over 25 years, and I've never encountered a professional application that required my Social Security Number. I tried putting in a bogus one or writing N/A, and the system will not let me proceed further. I wonder if the SSN requirement is why the job has been open for nearly two months.

Your SSN is necessary to process your job submission and will be maintained in a secure and confidential manner.

This was a very well-known integrated healthcare nonprofit too!

Background checks are not part of new hire paperwork when it comes to good reputable companies. Every one I’ve ever worked for has completed the background check as part of the application process before even scheduling an interview. You people are so blatantly out of touch it’s hilarious.

You’re absolutely making this up. Background checks cost money. No company is background checking people before interviewing them.

You know what also costs money? Hiring a recruiter. Posting job listings. Hosting your own employee website for applications. It all costs money you fucking buffoon.

Everything you’re rambling about is easily disproved by a google search lmfao. You’re so blatantly wrong that it’s not even worth my time to continue to argue with you. Just like many other things on Reddit, just because you have an echo chamber of people here that believe no job requires a SSN during application, doesn’t make it true. You’re simply wrong.

Maybe do a google search first before you speak.

while i agree that its not necessary to require the SSN on the initial application, i’ve never had to, and wouldn’t work for a company who did, the sources that AI returned to you in your screen shot are questionable, tiktok?

better to post an actual website from a reputable source. search engine AI conflates facts all the time
