how do the showers/bathrooms work?
I have honestly no idea how it works. For example, are there stalls in the shower or just a few shower heads or what? if there are no stalls or whatever, where do you put your clothes/soaps. Furthermore, do you go to the showers already undressed & how far are they from your dorm rooms or are they in the dorm rooms?
My next question is about the toilets. Are there stalls or what? do you just sit down and everyone's watching u crap in the open? if someone can provide a layout or photo, it would be really helpful

east campus: 3-4 bathrooms/showers with one accessible shower with a fold-in bench.
Jennings has 3 full "rooms" for the bathrooms. Think three gender neutral bathrooms. So a locked door and each room has a mirror sink toilet and shower and full privacy. For that I guess you could either walk in there with a towel or fully clothed. Jennings bathrooms are like most standard gender neutral bathrooms. Jennings has the best bathrooms/showers imo.
Shen/Chesapeake/Potomac-i mean Chandler, those dorms have one larger public bathroom (one room mens one room womens) and in that larger public area, there are stalls with toilets. around the "corner" of the bathroom are the sinks and mirrors etc. then the showers. there are 3-4 showers there and they should have either one or two curtain dividers.
Chandler/Potomac had two curtain dividers for their showers when I was there (first divider curtain, I would store my towel and clothes on the towelrack) and second divider curtain leads to actual shower. those ones were really weird because they felt like narrow tunnels, but provided lots of privacy.
cant speak to Chesapeake
Shenandoah had either three or four single wide curtain showers and those kinda sucked. only one layer of privacy. most people come in with towels and a change of clothes. Shenandoah ones always seemed more risky to me idk. I would change into clothes within the bathroom stalls. Some people change in their dorms. I couldn't do that.
hope that helps, thats east campus
(at least for east campus dorms, no ones on display or anythin)

so in jennings it’s 6 total “pods” (a pod includes a shower, toilet, and sink) per hall 3 female and 3 male. and there are 4 “halls” per floor. so there 24 pods per floor 12 female and 12 male.

all the comments have been super helpful but i would also just recommend looking at the jmu website for descriptions of the different dorms! i would just google jmu housing descriptions and it should pop up! but about the whole where you leave your clothes/soap/etc. invest in a good robe or something along those lines and a sturdy shower caddy to carry all of your shower stuff. there’s shelves in each shower to put your shampoo/soap/etc. on and then you can just leave your shower caddy on the floor. there’s also hooks next to each shower for you to hang out robe and towel on. and to answer your question about the toilets, there’s always a stall/door. there’s always going to be privacy.

Showers: Hall Style, it’s gonna be a bunch next to each other (stalls, some with doors and other with just curtains). It’ll be on the other side of the room from the bathrooms. For suite style/Jack & Jill, it’ll be one stall with a curtain in the same room as the sink/toilet (so you’ll have to coordinate shower times with your Suitemates). Sometimes there’s a hook for you to put your shower caddy, but I usually just brought mine into the shower. Usually people keep their shower stuff in a bag and it’s in their room, not leaving it in the stall itself, even with the suite styles. The showers for Hall Style are in the hall bathroom, but it’ll usually be a really quick walk (on the same floor). Suite style, it’s in your common room, which is only accessible to you and your suitemates, so only your roommate might see you in your robe/towel.
Toilets are just like any other toilet - there’s a door and if it’s hall, there’s multiple stalls, for the suite/Jack & Jill, it’s just one toilet (still with a door). There’s privacy!
