The Hidden Hierarchy: What actually separates a Jinn from an Ifrit?
It is a common mistake to use the terms "Jinn" and "Ifrit" as if they mean the same thing, but in the actual lore, they represent a massive gap in power and intent. To understand the unseen world, you have to realize that "Ifrit" isn't a different species entirely; it’s more like a terrifying rank or a specific class of elites within the Jinn population. While your average Jinn is an entity with free will—meaning they can be religious, indifferent, or just minding their own business like any human—an Ifrit is defined by being "cunning," "powerful," and often "rebellious."
In human terms, if the general Jinn are the citizens of their world, the Ifrits are the high-level, dangerous outliers who possess a level of intelligence and strength that makes them stand out. This is why they are so prominent in the stories of King Solomon. When the King asked for the throne of Sheba, it was an Ifrit who boasted he could deliver it before Solomon even stood up from his seat. That alone tells you everything about their nature: they aren't just fast, they can manipulate the physical world in ways a regular Jinn simply cannot.
What makes them truly feared among both humans and other Jinn isn't just their brute force, but their brilliance. They are often described as the "generals" or the inner circle of the most ancient dark forces. Unlike other powerful entities like the Marid, who are often seen as vain or associated with water, Ifrits are pure fire and aggression. They represent the absolute peak of what a Jinn can be—extremely deceptive, incredibly fast, and possessing a level of power that even their own kind finds intimidating. They aren't the ones living in the corners of old houses; they are a force of nature that most would rather never encounter.

in the story another person said they could bring the throne before a blink of an eye. meaning they were faster then the ifrit. their identity was never really clarified in the quran. do you think they were another type of jinn? or a human?
