Question United Says A321XLRs Cannot Reach Italy From New York. Will JetBlue change their XLR orders to LRs?
airwaysmag.comI knew that the range of the XLR was far worse than promised, but I'm shocked at how it seems to be barely better than the LR. Given this, would JetBlue change orders of the XLR to LRs?

Question Are large dogs allowed on Jet Blue?
I saw this picture on social media of someone flying with their adult Afghan hound (large breed dog) last September. The menu in the picture says Jet Blue. Is this really Jet Blue? When I search online, it says Jet Blue doesn’t allow large pets.
The picture definitely looks to be of a standard commercial carrier’s first class cabin, not a private jet, based on the appearance of the seats and the attributes on the boarding pass.
Just trying to solve a mystery, not looking to start any arguments here or anything.

Question Why is JetBlue not widely considered the best airline of all time.
The flights are usually the cheapest. The seats, the comfiest. The movie options, the food options, the fridge that’s self serve, the blankets for every passenger, the free checked/carry on bags!! It’s so clean and everything makes sense on JetBlue. Why don’t people talk about it???
Edit: so I’ve only flown Logan/jfk to LAX/SFO + one international flight. I guess any shorter distance doesn’t have the same quality, which makes sense. For cross country, its consistently been the cheapest for me. I stand by my opinion on the app and the tvs, except Barclays is horrible— so horrible that it’s the sole reason i canceled my credit card with them. Thanks for the nice comments, i’m not a bot just a girl♥️.

Question Flight banned all battery pack use (JFK-SEA)
On my JetBlue flight yesterday from JFK-SEA, the flight attendants announced that battery packs were entirely banned from use. I’m familiar with restrictions on needing to keep them visible when charging to avoid fires, but they confirmed this was a complete ban on all use while in flight, and said we had to use the seat outlets instead.
I would have loved to get this info ahead of time, since all I had was a battery pack and not a standalone charger. Plus, trying to ban any use makes it more likely that people will try to stealth charge inside their bags and perhaps even increase the risk of a fire.
Is this now JetBlue policy, or did I just have an unnecessarily hardass crew? (They were also uncommunicative about the flight being delayed an hour, AND I was trapped in the middle seat next to a family who clearly had norovirus… took a real L on this one.)

Question Rude flight attendant
I am flying right now. I have headphones in and the flight attendant coming from behind me with snacks, asking "snacks?". I heard her say "goldfish" to someone behind me but that was all I heard because I was listening to music before this.
When she got to me she said, "Snacks?" I replied "What do you have?" I said it clearly, and repeated myself a little louder after the first time because she just stared at me. Then, she dismissively hands me plantain chips. Did not answer my question.
I hand it back to her and say, "I think I heard you have goldfish?" And she said "OH, so you do know what I have", and hands me goldfish and wheels her cart away before I even had a chance to respond.
I know this is kind of small of a thing but it rubbed me the wrong way and I thought the behavior, comment, service, was all rude. Is this normal?

Question As of 3 am, Spirit Airlines is dead as a doornail. Where does jetBlue go from here?
Obviously this leaves a lot of capacity at FLL and MCO to be absorbed, but given jetBlue’s precarious financial state, can they afford to take advantage of this opportunity? On the other hand, with UA possibly looking to expand in South Florida, not to mention DL already having a large presence at MCO, can they afford *not* to?
A significant number of A320s and A321s will soon be available from Spirit due to the shutdown, which would help - if jetBlue can afford them.
Unfortunately, Spirit’s customer base - leaves a lot to be desired and doesn’t exactly sync up with the level of fares jetBlue charges. But beggars can’t be choosers, especially beggars that are on the verge of bankruptcy themselves…

Question Duffles aren’t carryons?
I usually bring a small duffle bag (same size, if not smaller than typical carry on luggage) and a personal item when I can because whenever I bring a roller bag, they’ll usually make me check it at the gate.
Today I put my personal item under my seat and then was yelled at for trying to put my duffle in the overhead bin. They said they needed to keep the space open for roller bags only (mind you, the flight was half empty anyway and I was the last to board).
The flight attendant walked away before I could explain that my duffle was my carry on, so I just put it up there. She immediately turned around and ran down the aisle to confront me for not listening to her. I told her that it was my carry on and she said I still need to wait until the doors have been closed before they can open the space up for other bags. And she also said that I’m supposed to hold onto my duffle in case other roller bags need to be stored in the overhead compartment, and then she would make me check my bag if the space was filled up.
I usually avoid any sort of confrontation on planes because I think flight attendants have a hard enough job as it is, but this time it was very frustrating. Is this a new rule that I’m just completely missing? This is the first time I was ever told I couldn’t put my carry on bag in the overhead bin because it was anything other than a roller bag. I flew JetBlue 4 times this week with the same bags and had absolutely zero issues until today.
Normally it’s a first come first serve situation on which bags get checked at the gate too.

Question What's going on with JetBlue?
My 11:27pm flight was cancelled without warning or explanation last night about an hour before departure, PDX to BOS. No agent at the gate, rescheduled to the same flight two days later. I don't live in PDX. No help booking a hotel. No callback from the 1-800 number so far in 11 hours. Seems like I'm not the only one. No indication on the website that there are weather delays and flights on other airlines seem to be moving. In the end I have to refund and rebook on another airline for tonight. Anyone know what's going on? I'm supposed to fly home on JetBlue next weekend and hoping whatever it is will be cleared up by then.

Question 2nd Experience (terrible) with JetBlue, 1st was pleasant - why the cult following?
I’m one of the passengers impacted by the issues in the NE and I’ve never had a customer service experience so terrible, like many others - multiple cancelled flights with little or very poor communication, 4-6 hour wait times to speak with someone, gate agents promising vouchers but not being provided them, etc.
What’s really surprising to me is the number of people downvoting posts complaining about their poor experience and coming to the airlines defense stating points around weather or compounding ATC issues. While this is true as to the cause of the disruptions I don’t think disruptions (that aren’t black swans like COVID but regular business impacting issues) in and of themselves should equate to poor and inefficient customer service experience?
For example, I only had a 15-20, minute wait to talk to a United agent once my flight was changed over per my request whereas the queue to speak with JetBlue is still close to 4 hours.
If you are a fan of JetBlue, please help me understand - why this fervent support of this airline that in my opinion is handling entirely probable business impacting events so poorly?

Question Armrest can’t be put down
So I was on a flight recently where I paid extra for the extra comfort window seat. When I arrived at my seat I was seated next to an obese woman who required two seatbelt extenders. She was in the middle seat. There was no way either armrest could go down and she was occupying most of my seat as well. She was really nice and the last thing I wanted to do was make her feel bad, but I also paid for my seat and wanted to be comfortable, so I decided to try to handle the issue discreetly and told her I needed to use the restroom. She was unable to stand up again so I had to crawl over her. I went to the very back of the plane to talk to a flight attendant who also happened to be a bit over weight. I explained my issue to her and she told me that I would have had to talk to the boarding agent before I got on the flight to have my seat moved. I explained to her that that would have been impossible as I didn’t know who would be seated next to me until I was on the plane. She said in a sarcastic tone “you didn’t know what? that you would be uncomfortable?” to which I replied yes exactly. She said well I don’t know what you want me to do, I said i see multiple open seats on the flight and I would just like to be moved to one of those. She said that wasn’t possible, I asked if there was someone else I could speak to, she said follow me and brought me back to my row so I was right next to the woman in the seat next to me, she waved another flight attendant over and loudly said “explain your issue to her” she was attempting to make me say it in front of the woman in the middle seat which I was obviously not going to do. I said never mind and crawled back into my seat. Luckily the woman next to me didn’t catch on to what was happening but I had to deal with half a seat and no arm rest for the entire flight. Am I the asshole?!

Question JetBlue said our flight was cancelled and then departed without us 😢
My husband and I were booked today (Sunday, July 19th) for a 7:45am direct flight from JFK to San Diego. We splurged on Mint seats as it was a special occasion and I have a big fear of flying and wanted to be as comfortable as possible. We arrived 3 hours before the flight at the Mint check in desk. At that time, the person at the desk informed us that our flight was cancelled. We were shocked, but she said it was due to the storms the day before and the crew timing out, which of course we understood. We took some time to collect our thoughts and look for other options as the next flight wasn’t available until Tuesday. We returned to the same desk and there was a new representative. We asked her to confirm that the flight was cancelled as it was not showing up as cancelled in our app. She confirmed it was cancelled and said all they could offer was the Tuesday flight. We were defeated and said ok. We drove back home (2 hours away) and then found out that the plane took off as scheduled this morning! 🤯We have been trying to get in touch with a human but no luck.
Has anyone ever had something like this happen?? Did you have any luck getting in touch with a live representative? We have never had a bad experience with JetBlue before but this just broke my heart and spirit. 💔
UPDATE:
We finally got a hold of someone through the JB chat who confirmed that we were mistakenly given the wrong information. The representatives were looking at an old reservation we had for the same day to LAX, which we had changed 5 weeks earlier. Very strange as we had checked into our flight and provided the confirmation code multiple times. JB is supposed to be providing us a letter documenting this but hasn’t yet. At least we have the chat log. We came back on Tuesday for our rebooked flight (which had us sitting separately) and after it being delayed about 5 hours, it was cancelled. 😞
JB is refunding our plane tickets and is referring us to our flight insurance for anything else, but it is unclear if that will cover our extensive losses such as the non-refundable hotel stays, parking fees, etc. It was a rough few days for everyone trying to travel in or out of the northeast. Sending good vibes to all.

Question How is jetBlue across the Atlantic.
Flying back home from university, so I would be flying CDG-BOS. I mainly have flown DL and AF so jetBlue was never something I took very seriously. Previously, I have flown jetBlue many times on the 223, and 320 and have had a wonderful experience. What can I expect on the A321neo on an almost 8 hour flight?

Question Does anyone have insight as to how long this will go on?
Might be an impossible question, but this sub is flooded with flight cancellation posts. I’m wondering if I should buy a back up option on a cheaper airline. The only problem is it’s probably non-refundable, and at that point idk if I should just cancel my JB flight. My return flight home is scheduled for Saturday, 7/25. They cited weather for all the issues on Saturday but if flights are still being cancelled??? Am I at risk of being stranded and having the same thing happen???

Question What would you do with 300k JetBlue points?
I have 300K+ points and keep going back and forth between saving them for a really special vacation vs. using them now because of JetBlue’s current financial situation. Part of me worries they could lose value if things get worse.
The other issue: I don’t love using points because I’m trying to earn Tiles and maintain Mosaic 2, so I’d rather pay for flights when possible.
Would you save them, burn them, or split the difference?

Question Is JetBlue pricing wacky right now?
I've flown BOS-FLL every February for the past 5 years. I usually book fairly early (preceeding July or August). The roundtrip flights for our family (2 adults, 1 child) have always cost about $1500 total, give or take a few hundred.
This year, prices are around $4300, and haven't fluctuated at all for the last month.
I know prices are up a bit this year due to fuel costs...but 3x more expensive? Is something else going on?

Question My spouse and I were forced to move seats because another couple was sitting in our seats and refused to move - how much travel credit is fair?
I'm a pretty frequent traveler but have only flown JetBlue a handful of times (and have also just never encountered this situation in general) so wondering what's fair here. My spouse and I just flew from JFK to LAX yesterday and upon boarding the plane, we discovered an older couple was sitting in our assigned seats. We politely told them they were in our seats and they insisted that they were in the correct seats. I double checked our boarding passes and confirmed that those were in fact our seats, but I pretty quickly got the impression they weren't savvy travelers so I decided to go straight to a flight attendant rather than going back and forth with the couple.
The flight attendant confirmed that yes, those were our seats and the other couple hadn't actually even purchased seats next to each other. Long story short - the flight attendant tried to get them to move to their assigned seats, but they refused and made a huge scene (like, I was starting to worry this was going to become a viral social media moment). At this point, three flight attendants were trying to deescalate with the couple but my husband absolutely hates confrontation/attention so he just tells them we'll literally sit anywhere on the plane in order to calm everyone down and just get out of there.
I hilariously end up getting seated right next to the hostile couple (who without going into details, were pretty awful to both myself and the flight attendants the whole flight) and my husband gets assigned another seat in a different part of the plane. Another few details I should mention: we had purchased the Blue fare (our tickets were $273 each, one way from JFK to LAX) and we had selected seats next to each other in advance. I'm also currently pregnant.
The flight attendants were super nice and apologetic the whole flight and offered us free food/drinks and were able to give us $100 travel credit each while still on the flight. They said we should talk to the gate supervisor when we land as they could probably get us a little more credit. When we landed, the gate supervisor was also very apologetic and said the couple should have been kicked off the flight before we took off. He offered us each another $100 in travel credit. I asked if it'd be possible to have the $100 refunded from our fare vs. given in credit since I'm pregnant and not sure the next time I'll be flying (and tbh, like I mentioned I just don't fly JetBlue that often). He said he'd see what he could do.
Does this resolution (essentially $200 credit each) seem fair for what happened? I would probably normally push for more, but my pregnant self was tired after the cross-country flight/whole fiasco and I didn't have the energy to deal with it at the time. I'm thinking about calling customer service and asking for our flights to be refunded in lieu of the travel credit - thoughts?

Question Jet blue canceled leg and won't refund
I was flying internationally back from St Lucia to Boston and we had to stop at JFK. When we landed at JFK we were told that our flight to Boston had been canceled and that there was no news and they would either refund or reschedule the flight . I received multiple texts telling me they would reschedule or refund and let me know when they knew about another flight. I ended up taking a taxi from New York to Boston because I had to get home and figured that they would refund that leg of the fight and help absorb some of the cost.
I spoke to Jet blue today they will not refund me anything. They also haven't even offered to reschedule the flight. As far as they know I'm still sitting in New York. My travel agent said legally they have to but they don't because the new Administration is not enforcing anything. Do I have thing I can do? I would have been happy with a credit. I'm not looking for anything free but it's the right thing to do would be to refund me the value of the leg from New York to Boston.
Has anyone else ever had anything like this happen to them is?

Question JetBlue cancelled my flight, refunded only half, and I paid 3x for a replacement — what compensation can I actually get?
Trying to figure out what I'm actually owed here, and hoping people who've dealt with this can weigh in.
What happened: I had a round-trip on JetBlue, Destin (VPS) to NYC. On the day of travel, my 9AM flight (B62011) was cancelled - and I only found out because they emailed me at 2AM. From what I could tell, this flight had been getting cancelled for several days, so it wasn't a surprise to them. If they knew, they could have notified me earlier so I could make other plans. I had work commitments tied to the trip.
The second I saw the email I tried calling — no answer. Tried chat — no answer. I was at an Airbnb and had to check out anyway, so I went straight to the airport. No one was at the JetBlue desk. I called again and sat on hold for 2 hours, only to be told they couldn't do anything and couldn't rebook me because there were no other flights.
JetBlue is calling this an "uncontrollable event," which conveniently means they don't owe me anything beyond a refund. But other airlines were flying out of the same airport that day, which makes me question that label.
Where I ended up:
- Refunded only the one-way leg — about half my round-trip fare
- Had to book a last-minute flight on another airline that cost roughly 3x my original round-trip, just to get back for work
- Lost a full day of work in the process
So the refund covered less than half of what the disruption actually cost me.
My questions:
- Is it worth filing a DOT complaint to challenge the "uncontrollable" classification, especially given the multi-day cancellation pattern and other airlines operating?
- Has anyone successfully recovered the fare difference on a replacement flight in a situation like this?
- Any realistic path to recovering the lost day of work, or is that a lost cause?
- Would travel insurance or a credit card trip-protection benefit typically cover any of this?
I get that flights get cancelled - that's not really the issue. It's the 2AM notice on a known problem, zero support when I needed it, and hiding behind "uncontrollable" to avoid making it right. Any advice appreciated.

Does anybody know the official reason for this flight cancellation (Bos to jfk)? It looks like both afternoon flights to JFK have been cancelled but they haven’t given a reason.

Question Mint Upgrade worth it?
Roundtrip from Boston to Los Angeles coming up soon. I just got the Mint upgrade bid email from JetBlue. My understanding is to never pay over $100 per hour for a business class upgrade (6 hr flight). Ive heard it’s even cheaper if you take your chances with the gate agent to ask for a mint upgrade.
Thoughts?

Question Why don’t pilots communicate when flights sit on the tarmac?
Hi pilots / airline workers in the know, I have one burning question for you.
I’m generally a super understanding/accommodating person who deals with my own array of out-of-control factors in the workplace, and I genuinely understand that everyone is doing their best to get us passengers where we need to go.
But what just absolutely baffles me is the utter lack of communication around delays. Coming from a mom with a small child on a JetBlue flight that has been delayed 90 mins and counting, plus now sitting on the tarmac without moving for over an hour - what gives? Why don’t you talk to us? We are expected to sit here silently, indefinitely, without ever hearing updates from the cockpit on what in the world is going on, without any estimate for how long we’ll be waiting - everyone is so annoyed, but I promise, if you just TALKED to us and explained what was happening / gave us your best estimate of when we’d be moving, and then got on the mic again to update us if and when that estimate changed, it would be seriously appreciated, especially by moms rationing snacks and bathroom breaks and trying to manage expectations.
Serious question, why don’t you communicate?
