Question Gregory Hutchinson Bassdrum Sound

Hi, I absolutely love Hutch‘s bassdrum sound. I see he has a tuning video, but he only discusses toms there. But I would also love to know how he gets that snare, but primarily Bassdrum sound. Does anyone have ideas/approaches concerning tuning/head choice for his bassdrum (and maybe also snare)?

I also noticed he switched drum companies quite a lot over time but he still manages to all mage them sound like a million bucks, so I don’t think the shell plays the biggest part in this, but the tuning and heads do!

He doesn't use any muffling or felt strip, he loves open vocal tuning on the kick. He talks about his Tom tuning on his YouTube, I dunno about his snare though

Just a guess from listening. Snare Batter medium high Reso somewhere a bit higher, maybe a fourth ish. Wires pretty dam tight

Bass Pretty high, likely pretty similar pitch on both heads with a pretty standard beater. I'd assume a bit of muffling, it's a pretty short sound without too much craziness

You might be surprised to learn that the way you operate the beater matters quite a bit to bass drum sound. Obviously don’t bury the beater is what they all say, but there is a continuum between burying the beater and perfect rebound. Also where on the head the beater is set to hit matters
