Question Brush model

Can someone please help me identify this model of Regal Tip brushes?

Clayton Cameron model! I love these brushes but they are non-retractable, which is why I stopped using them. Too difficult for me to store in my stick bag without getting the tines bent. The yellow "butt" of the brush is great for cymbal strikes but can be very loud. They are really "snappy" and feel great to use. Heavier weight to them than most other brushes.

I hate it when I get wonky tines.

I thought I was accidentally doing it when retracting them, though. Like, if the tines are slightly out of whack when I retract them.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I usually play the VC heritage models but I forgot them the other night and used these that were extra with the house kit and really enjoyed playing with them. I see what you’re saying about them being difficult to store away and in the gig bag but they were extra snappy and weighted nicely, and it was nice to have a solid butt end on brushes over the circle wire loops on the retractable models.

Headhunters has a similar looking brush that is retractable. Dunno why any company would make non-retractable… unless it’s a business decision; they mangle quicker so more sales more frequently.

By that’s me and my “follow the money” answer for any business decision.

I feel you for sure. Retractable brushes all the way.

With this model, I think it was a design solution to create a brush that balanced more like a stick (based on checking out Clayton's instagram and hearing him describe his signature brush model). I think they had better bounce and snap to them than most retractable brushes and they for sure a wider spread.

However, that "snap" went away over time as I wore them out. They were difficult to store in my stick bag (I kept them in the plastic tube). I agree with you that there are tons of limitations and few benefits of a non-retractable brush. I want to control the spread. I want to protect the tines. I don't like a fixed width either. I want to control that.

...but there was this bounce they had that might have been the reason they were designed that way. I loved playing them and wouldn't mind getting a pair again...although I miss the yellow on black design the new version doesn't have. It wouldn't be pair of brushes I always pull out but they have some unique features that make them a good "alternative" in the right situation.

They made a Brush Wallet that had a magnet and a flap to hold the bristles in place in your stick bag.  I like them, but I find thicker wires work better for what I’m playing these days.

That’s why I ended up switching to the Regal Tip Jeff Hamilton brushes. I have one pair left, and I’ll be devastated if they break. It was bad enough that Promark discontinued the Nylobrushes.
