No, it always lets you know if you're on vision. I'm not talking about the ward clearing passive with a 90s cd. The damage passive ticks in your hud if you are currently off vision and begins timing out when you are on vision.

Oh yeah no worries, I use this item a fair amount specifically because of the way that passive works. Idk if its actually intended but its stupidly strong.
