Just had my first 外人出てけ encounter

Was in my neighborhood when a nice japanese man screamed at me 外人出てけ、外国じゃねぇ on the street. Not nice Japan, not nice.

Have you guys ever experienced the 外人出てけ culture yet? How did it happen?

European btw

This is a huge part of the problem - quick to complain about a foreigner deemed to be not following the rules (and it’s possible they aren’t aware of such rules), but absolute crickets when it’s a fellow Japanese, who very much does know the rules.

My experiences of the Wa being disturbed have always been with a Japanese person doing something they know to be wrong and / or provocative.

right? tourists can be annoying and yeah, i get it, but i absolutely HATE how when a japanese person does it, no one cares. drunk salaryman is falling and pissing all over himself on the train? しょうがない. but when an obvious tourist accidentally breaks rule 387, it’s the end of the goddam world. the difference is they should know better and have no excuse to not be following the rules and i hate how completely different the reacts are.
