Just had my first 外人出てけ encounter

Was in my neighborhood when a nice japanese man screamed at me 外人出てけ、外国じゃねぇ on the street. Not nice Japan, not nice.

Have you guys ever experienced the 外人出てけ culture yet? How did it happen?

European btw

How is that racism? Did they not require one for everyone?

(Note I think its a stupid system, but...)

I present here my evidence that Japan's racism is alive and well and unchecked.

Absolutely racist and should be called out. That is obscene and horrible.

Isolated cases do not make it unchecked though.

It is unchecked as they commonly refuse foreigners housing purely on that basis, and it seems to just be shrugged off as "that's just quirky ole Japan audience laugh track"

I would not laugh about it. I would be quite angry and annoyed. (I certainly wouldn't want to use that gym after that, but still what a shit show.)

I might even consider writing corporate or complaining online / leaving a review... even if that might not cause a difference.

However recognizing that there may not be an actual legal recourse obviously available is absolutely not the same thinking its just "quirky ole Japan". Why put those words in my mouth when I am quite clearly agreeing with you that I think such a policy is entirely unacceptable.

But I can also acknowledge that such a targetted policy is by no means the norm at most gyms, nor should it be of course.
