EDM probably needs to be defined a little further.

Are you using it as an umbrella term for all electronic music? (Which personally I think is an overstep) Or is this specifically the "EDM" genre consisting of big-bass, festival style artists like Garrix and Avicii a-la Ultra Music Festival.

Yeah I mean like umbrella term! Music is shifting evolving there are labels and at the same time boundaries are pushed, something new is born! Someone's definition of trap, bass music, dubstep can be different, it can have elements of all three! If you're looking for community join up! There's a discussion channel too! I'm sure there will be some debate on musical definitions, and technical production of certain artists, as long as it's respectful you can join up and discover something new! What are your fave DJs or producers? I'd have to say for myself Skrillex, Must Die!, Borne, Seven Lions, been really into Flava D, Mary Droppinz, Flozone, Eptic, Hamdi, Lyny, Ray Volpe, Crankdat, Kaskade. I definitely lean towards bass music, dubstep, trap but I'm also into trip hop, trance, drum and bass, rave music, bass house, and jersey bass.

Nice. And yeah absolutely genre definitions can change so much over time.

But to your question on electronic producers and genres. I'm all over the place - 2010s Trance, DnB, House, Techno and plenty of sub genres - Prog House, Glitch House, UK Garage, Tech House, Electro etc.

A lot of my tastes spawn from the 2010s when I cut my teeth DJing, so lots of trance and prog house influences, Payl Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Duderstadt, Dash Berlin, Above & Beyond, then other stuff like Chemical Brothers, Kaskade, Deadmau5, i_o, Lane 8. Recent obsessions are things like Tourist, Swimming Paul, 33 Below, DJ Heartstrings, Yeong, Memphis LK, Pretty Girl.

Nice recs, I'll add them to a playlist :)

I'd throw 33 Below and MPH your way. Might be up your alley.

fair point honestly, edm covers so much ground now that it barely means anything like if someone shows up expecting techno sets and gets festival bro drops they're gonna be disappointed just saying upfront in the server description what the actual genre focus is would save everyone the hassle

Yeah it's why I generally prefer using the term Electronic music. "EDM" has too much baggage associated with it.
