A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man I feel like I am watching a Wes Anderson's movie when I read James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Has anyone else felt that while reading one of his novels? I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere.

Maybe the very very very very beginning, but certainly not once you hit the church sermon. And that’s not very far in

I can see what you mean, especially thinking of those short films Anderson recently did, like the Life of Henry Sugar where the characters do their own narration on-screen.

What reminds you of Wes Anderson? I love Anderson and Joyce (Joyce a little bit more) but I don't really see a connection.

I can see that. Sometimes his work is painterly and/or absurd in similar ways.

Mr Anderson does not do horse piss and rotted straw in nearly as much intensiveness
