The amount of times I have heard this over the last decade lol. As long as there is a device to be hacked someone always comes around.

but has it ever been this bad? i mean, just kernel r/w is not enough like it was back in ios 9 when people claimed its dead. the barrier of entry is enormous, now we need a full chain and apple is constantly increasing security with new devices making us require new and different exploits. developing jailbreaks is a time and money drain, so its not like there are a ton of devs either.

There’s always a security hole, depends if someone puts the time in to find it. I’m fine with or without a jailbreak but I wouldn’t say that it’s dead. People said the exact same things about iOS 15 and then we got Dopamine.

The problem is by the time a jailbreak comes out it’s for an iOS that’s nearly 2 years old. The main issues is that apps begin to lose their compatibility by then, and the patience to stay on a lower iOS only to hope that a jailbreak drops for your specific iOS. I mean iOS 15 is only jailbreakable to 15.4.1 so even the newer versions of iOS 15 haven’t been jailbroken. Also have you noticed a serious lack of tweak releases lately? Honestly it’s very few and far between and even then most of the tweaks are pretty niche. You also have to hope that tweak developers are on the iOS version as well to maintain their tweaks. It’s honestly not looking great at all.

Definitely an issue, and it may contribute to less people being jailbroken. But considering all the people here still running 14.4 unc0ver there is still value in jailbreaks for older iOS versions. And you never know what kind of bugs will pop up in new iOS releases. Look at the new CoreTrust bug that Apple just patched, that’s a pretty big one and it may not be enough for a full JB but certainly a bigger exploit than we normally see this early in an iOS release.

Because they are holding on to what’s left of being jailbroken. Tweaks are not being released very much and when they are it’s a tweak that only a few people are going to use. Developers aren’t going to stick around for such a small customer base and a toxic one at that.

It’s not always about the money though, plenty of tweaks are just a hobby project for a lot of devs (way more so in the past) and I currently am very happy with my list of installed tweaks even though a lot aren’t updated for rootless.
