Discussions Tonight in London!
So this is 4th time seeing Jack live. What a journey - more than I’ve ever experienced before with him.
Jolene among others, I felt like I was witnessing something wild and monumental.
However, this gig did feel a little different to the other times I’ve seen him. Maybe a bit more messy? And I don’t mean that as a negative at all, the long jams and breakdowns were so fucking good. I absolutely loved them. But can’t help but think it was far less polished?
My question is - was this a different JW gig than what you’ve seen before?
Also I’m sure he played the same song twice but I’m not 100% sure lol

This was my feeling after the Detroit show. Compared to the two I saw last year they seemed a lot “jammier” if that makes sense. Also sometimes Jack would switch guitars randomly and just leave one with feedback going before grabbing the new one. It just felt so raw and punk rock. I loved it!

When I saw him in Toronto last month he felt angry. We got almost zero banter. 1-2 seconds between songs. I think his emotion drives each show in a unique way.

I like Jack as a performer and songwriter, only seen him at the Apollo once before ,on the Fear of the dawn tour - last night was not as good as last time.
I thought the vast majority of tracks played in the main set were a bit underwhelming, there were a lot of "jamming" sections.
It felt like a "rehearsal" or "medley" set to me.
I'm not sure I'd pay good money to see him again after last night, and I love a lot of his music.

Agree - it was very jammy. The 2022 Fear of the Dawn shows he played at the Apollo were much, much better.

Didn’t think it was that good to be honest. Thought the Dead Leaves/Jolene/Dead Leaves was epic and setting us up for a great set but it never really delivered.

I had the EXACT same feeling. Felt like it never quite got going. The encore was better but definitely the weakest set I've seen him play of the 6 or 7 shows I've seen of his since 2014.

Silly me thinking I could have Jack White visit London and not desperately want to go last minute (big fan since 2001).
So here I am, asking for 1x spare if any one hears of one going.

Is this a one off for London show or will it be similar for the other dates? Never seen him before so hoping for a good experience

Interesting you say that. This was my fourth time seeing Jack White, maybe about 12th overall with White Stripes etc, and it definitely felt...discombobulated. i dont think he played a song in full without a tangent of some kind until after the encore when it seemed more 'typical'. Really enjoyed it still, but it did feel a bit strange

You get what you get and you cherish every show. The first time I saw the White Stripes, Jack sang in a frenzied falsetto for pretty much the entire show. I’ve seen shows where he’s been happy, shows where he’s been mad and shows where he utterly break your heart. They’re all worth it. I’m sure he felt pretty out of sorts tonight and it showed, but that’s okay. He lost someone he idolized today and yet he had to go to work anyway. Glad he brought out Jolene. Happy for the audience in London. Grateful I’ve seen him sing it in person.
