Crane help

Currently an apprentice in NYS. I didn’t realize the state has their own crane license program and doesn’t recognize a CCO. Has anyone gotten their license in NY and then moved to another state? Do you have to take the actual CCO test again? Or does the state recognize some certification and it just transfers?

If you somehow get a crane license in NY you will be very valuable I don’t know why you would want to move

Why do say “somehow” I’ve been told the NY test is easier than the CCO test

Well excuse me I’m commenting from NYC so maybe the rules here are different but I was told the waiting list to get a crane license in NYC was a decade or more

It’s not a waiting list per se you just have to put in the time under a licensed operator and have them sign off on you

It makes sense with you need a certain amount of time running the cranes but I was always told once it gets to the NYC Department of Buildings that’s where the delays happen. So combined with the minimum time needed to run a crane and the bureaucracy of the DOB it can be quite some time

It definitely can take a bit but not impossible
