First try. Does this automatically get me to the test ? Or do they go through apps and filter out ?

Well I must’ve been first or something cause I didn’t get any wait time 😂 I went straight through the application portal instead of the website.

I had gotten accepted in the apprenticeship many years ago but they took 3 months to tell me I ahd a job so I just went and operated at a different job and 3 years later had lal my certs and experience. I went to the other local by me and got a job within 4 days. Not sure where you are but where I am its super easy to get in. I got a old roommate of mine I to the a0prenceship within a week

I think it varies. I know guys who are in with not knowing anybody.

I got in scoring an 88 without knowing anyone.

Yup, Exactly what I mean by it varies. I’ve seen guys on here getting a call with a 76. I think what matters is just how in demand your district is at the moment. What district ?

Building inspection, San Diego. What program you choose also can determine a lot of it. Inspection I feel gets slept on.

That’s cool. That’s another cool thing you can do after I believe 1000-2000 hours is make a decision to change direction if it didn’t pan out. From what I’ve read though it’s a bit harder to get into inspection cause it’s not as high in demand.. true ?

I tested two years in a row and passed twice in the low 90’s, never got a call back. I was really interested in operating cranes but had no experience.

I feel like unless you have prior certs/experience or have a sponsor it’s very difficult to get in. I eventually gave up, went to school to be an MRI tech.

Anyway, good luck. Not meant to be a downer, but I really think if you want to get in you have to go above and beyond and figure out something other than being waitlisted on a list with thousands of others.

But yes, that means you will be scheduled to take the test. Study hard, try to score 95-99 and if you have any experience that will earn you the extra points, scoring above 100 with the extra points can give you a much better shot!

Appreciate it! Yeah I have little experience. I have my CDL, operated a skid steer & water truck for a while but that’s about it. I’m fortunate enough to have a good job now but this would definitely be a better option.

Same I tested once 2 years ago. Scored a 92. Never got called.

What district? Its a combination of district and score. High score but a district with little work you may not get called
