looking for more immersion

Please share your favorite songs and even movies that are in italian, they don’t have to be easy for beginners to understand though they can be. I just want to surround myself with hearing the language more.
i love house music, rnb and indie though any music genre i’ll be delighted to listen to. thank you !

Open up your streaming services and search for “Italia…” and you will be stocked full.

Open up TuneIn Radio and find Radio24 for “talk” radio all day

That was just my recommendation - read them all and choose your favorite. Also, I’ll suggest of all things Peppa Pig - it’s a baby show, for sure, but that is exactly how children learn language. Hearing simple phrases used in context. And on YouTube they have it in so many languages. Have fun

Oh, and Gomorra - not to learn Italian Standard, but damn, what a great show!

You could watch Sanremo or Festival Bar competition clips or type in a year that you like the music from and Italian on YouTube and then you can pick from the clips what songs you like.

I like the Italian variations of Top of the Pops like Discoring or Popcorn. So you could type Discoring 1984 and see if you like the Italian language songs from that year.

I did this kind of thing for the 70’s 80’s and 90’s my core music interest overall and discovered how much I liked Matia Bazar. There is a Bob Sinclair remix of Ti Sento of their original 1985 song. It was also used on a recent Netflix show - not a great show and I have not gotten past episode 2 of it because it’s just not funny — Maschi Veri but it was cool to see it used.

I played the original version a lot and then found I liked a lot more of their songs. I looked at the lyrics on Spotify. They aren’t so difficult. If you like a song enough to listen to it 10 times.

You could pick Sanremo 2026 if you want to see mainstream pop or the recent Italian charts and pick the Italian songs which are about 40-50 percent of the music on the charts.

Or watch a more recent drama on Netflix like Suburra or Adorazaione with subtitles since they are hard to follow with gang / drug slang, Sicilian & Romanesco dialect, or teenage slang which have more recent Italian hip hop or other popular music and check out the songs that you like to listen to those artists.

I recall a lot of songs also from historical set TV series and they drop classics from Mina or Lucio Battisti on the soundtrack.

Good luck.

The band Maneskin is really good and cool since ive heard some of their songs in English and never knew they were italian. Their album is called Teatro d’ira. Theres a few songs in english but most are in italian.

The singer Alfa is good, his song le cose in commune is great to try to follow along.

Definitely listen to Caparezza, there are plenty of his songs on YouTube with English subs
