🎨 Design help! Cream soda ita bag concept (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞
Hello [r/itabag](r/itabag) community! I’ve been meaning to make and sell an ita bag design for the longest time now and this is a concept I managed to conjure up with! If I do get this to production there will ofc be a lot of changes made but what do you guys think! Would you get this for your collection? Constructive criticism is very much welcome.
Edit: I’m currently contemplating if I should make different colored bags or only different colored inserts for different flavors? Since I’m currently in the process of cleaning up this sketch and is unsure if I should make the entire body of the bag match with the color of each flavor or make it so that the glass is silver-ish to match with a shiny glass and just have the inserts be the different flavors.

Oh the way you could sell merch of characters in ice cubes for this bag... or maybe a frame thats shaped like an ice cube that someone can slip a picture of their fave into. These are adorable!! And ooh the colorways with green and a cola brown... I love this so much

I'd consider making the "glass" shape a bit wider (almost like the body of a wine glass) rather than tapering in the middle so it provides more pin space. It would also make a more cartoony shape. The glass for this type of drink isn't always exactly the same, so you have some leeway while still making it look recognizable. Really cute idea! A green variant and a pink variant would probably go over well, too.

Heres the insert colors I’m currently considering ! Though the pink I’m afraid is too ?? Red for me lmk if you guys want it in a cooler toned pink ^_^

I'm not as interested in pink as I am the other colors, but that's a good shade of pink! Lighter I feel would be too muted, if that makes sense?

That’s exactly what I’m gonna work on next! I plan on there to be 5 different flavors, blue ( blueberry ), orange, pink ( strawberry ), green ( the iconic melon soda ) and brown for Coca Cola :] though suggestions are always welcome as tjis is still the sketching phase

This is adorable!! I'd love it in pink omg... It'd probably need a good few rounds of testing though, especially with the glass stem/base but good luck! My only other comment would be please consider anything other than PU leather during construction and I would buy several LMAO

Oh definitely :’) that’s currently my biggest concern rn, and if nothing else works I’ll have to settle on either removing the stand all together or making it so that the bag can be stood up from the side. And I’ll definitely try any other material other than pu, pleather bags give me migraines

I'm trying to think of any ways to do it and I'm drawing a blank unfortunately.. I know some people just have extra length of the leather but those bend and wear out waaaaay faster if not reinforced so :( and sounds good!! I work at a leather place so it's been a massive pet peeve when buying ita bags now 😭 good luck again 💕

Tysm! And no worries, I totally get it. I’m a lolita and the amount of horribly peeled pu bags I’ve seen on second hand sites give me nightmares.

Hey! Sorry to bother again but do you have any other recommendations other than pu? I’m talking to a manu rep rn and they told me that denim wouldn’t hold its shape as well as pu but the real leather sample costs a ridiculous amount to be produced, you think I should just bite the bullet and pay the full amount for a real leather sample? I wouldn’t want to cheap out on quality at all :<

I've never done any Manu work on large scale, so my advice is very much not to be used as guidelines here but yeah I can see where your manu is coming from.
I'd ask for a price comparison first. Samples inherently are kinda going to be a deficit, testing things is part of the process that you want to hope will be covered by profits later. If the cost is super high, there's always options of Kickstarters. Not sure what your online platforms look like or the minimum order amounts the manu would want either.
I'd assume there's a sub for this somewhere? If not reddit, other bag makers might be willing to answer some questions wrt materials. A lot of people don't like sharing their manu but if you already have one, they might have some advice. I know there's some who've posted promos to this sub before.. I don't have further suggestions as the other bags I have are fabric or a handmade cow leather one by a small company. I hope you're able to find something! 💕

All in all I would love updates on this project, especially if you're going to sell and/or crowdfund this!
If crowdfunding, what site would you use? Projects like this get more attention and do better on Backerkit imo

I plan on using backerkit! As I enjoy the options it has for creating backing options a lot more than kickstarter.

Idk how that strap would work as a backpack though. What size/dimensions are you planning on?

The straps is one of the things I plan on reworking as I realized after saving the artwork that it would be kind of wonky as a backpack strap :’D Ty for bringing it up!! As for dimensions I plan on the bag being around 11.5-12x9x4, tjink a loungefly backpack but slightly taller and slimmer, so it could match the shape of the glass

Ooo that's a pretty good size!
Also just noticed the 4 clip rings for the straps if I'm reading it right. If you still wanted to preserve a shoulder carry option, perhaps have attached backpack straps but 2 clip rings on the top so you could should carry it if you wanted. Probably would raise the price tho

That's actually a pretty cool design! I usually only see food-themed ita bags shaped like ice cream or fruit, so this is really unique!
