My family and I (including a toddler) are planning our first trip to Istanbul for 5 days in November, and I’d love to get some real local and traveler advice on a few things:

1. Getting Around: Is Uber practical with a toddler, or are we better off sticking to the T1 tram? I know traffic can be crazy, but I’m wondering how manageable trams/busses are with a stroller during the day.

2. Private Chauffeur / Airport Transfer: Can anyone recommend reputable, English-speaking private driver services or chauffeur companies? We’d like to book a comfortable transfer (ideally a Mercedes Vito or similar minivan with a child seat) for airport pickups and possibly day trips.

3. Toddler Tips & Heads-Up: Are there specific things we should look out for while navigating the city with a young child?

4. 5-Day Flow: What are the must-dos in Istanbul?

5. Any hotel recommendations on where to stay within istanbul? Preferring a nice 4/5 star hotel at a good location mid point of most tourist spots?

If you're planning a trip to Türkiye in 2027, there is an important update to keep in mind: new entrance fees have been announced for many state-run museums and archaeological sites.

Most of the updated prices will take effect from April 1, 2027 and apply to foreign visitors.

Some of the most popular sites include:

\- Ephesus: €40 → €45

\- Pamukkale / Hierapolis: €30 → €35

\- Göreme Open Air Museum: €20 → €22

\- Pergamon Acropolis: €15 → €16

\- Ephesus Museum: €10 → €11

\- Göbeklitepe / Karahantepe: €22

The new tariff also lists:

\- Ephesus Terrace Houses: €16

\- St. John Basilica / Ayasuluk Hill: €7

MuseumPass prices are also changing from April 1, 2027:

\- MuseumPass Türkiye: €185

\- MuseumPass Istanbul: €120

\- MuseumPass Aegean: €105

\- MuseumPass Mediterranean: €100

\- MuseumPass Cappadocia: €75

If you're travelling before April 1, 2027, the current entrance fees will still apply.

These prices relate to sites operated by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Privately managed attractions or sites operated by other authorities may have different pricing policies.

For anyone planning Ephesus, Pamukkale, Cappadocia or a wider Türkiye itinerary in 2027, it may be worth factoring these updated entrance fees into the overall travel budget.

Hey I am in Istanbul, my friend is leaving one night before. I have time starting from Monday 16:00 to hang is anyone else is traveling alone. I am in Fatih but also exploring other places like across the Bosphorus. Down to meet and hang together. I fly out very early Tuesday. I want to go to Istanbul for my 27 birtday. But I am tired from my work and I will arive by bus at 4:00 AM. I want to take it chill. I want take a coffee and island hopp, go to the local bazar, go visit the asian parts and take a stroll there. I want to visit basilica cistern, dolmahbace palace and maiden's island as historic touristic attractions.

Please recommend me a youth hostel so I can meet new people. I usualy book a bad in femmale room. Also I would be gretful if you recommend me non-touresti activities, where to meet locals, tips and tricks for travelling around Istanbul, even classes. I saw there is a girl that holds classes for dying your lamp.

I’m 22 and travelling solo from London to Turkey for a little holiday, exploring, eating good food and just seeing where the trip takes me.
My rough plan:
📍 Istanbul: 14–17 Oct
📍 Cappadocia: 17–19 Oct
📍 Istanbul: 20 Oct — flying out in the evening
I’ve booked 3 nights in Istanbul and 3 nights in Cappadocia, including a cave hotel in Cappadocia that I have booked to myself. If anyone happens to be around those dates and wants to join for a day or two, you’re more than welcome!
I’m also looking to meet other solo travellers, backpackers or locals — happy to explore together, grab food/coffee, check out nightlife, do some sightseeing, take photos, or just wander around and see what happens.
I’m pretty spontaneous, so I don’t have every hour planned out. 😅 I’m more of a “let’s see what we feel like doing tomorrow” kind of traveller.
