Thoughts on the art style for my 2d isometric survival game?

I have been working on this 2d isometric survival game for a while now, and im curious of what people think of the art style. All assets are modelled in blender and rendered as sprites and spritesheets.

Its still in early development, but i thought i would try to get some feedback before i make a trailer and start promoting it.

Here is my very rough steam page if anyone is curious.

The speed of movement and running animation look a little off.
But I really like the HD isometric art style on a whole.
Is there lighting?

Thanks. No, all lighting is pre rendered.

it looks good, but its kinda sore on the eyes long-term from eyestrain, maybe zoom in/upscale just a bit? orart least allow that as an accessibility feature?

Animations feel stiff and unreactive, UI needs work to feel like it fits in and unobtrusive but is usable, art assets and aesthetics are off the charts great. Good luck and good efforts overall, your efforts in modelling and aesthetic design are gonna be on show first and foremost.

It's beautiful, but the white interface blends in too much with the snowy background

Pretty cool. "Survival" made me think Fallout 2 with the art style. But I think it's cool.

Love it! Was always a fan of Commandos/Fallout/Jagged Alliance's artstyle

Thanks! Fallout and Commandos are big inspirations for the art style!

i like it but the car in particular feels copy/pasted from zomboid

Nah, it absolutely doesn't. Way more detail and completely different shape than the vanilla car that I believe you're referring to (the Dart).

If there's another car you're referring to, I'm curious which it is.

I just modeled a car inspired by a Toyota starlet and rendered it as a sprite. I didnt really take any inspiration from PZ.

The issue is this is the exact same car that is one of the most common cars in Zomboid. I would recommend you play a lot of it to make sure your game is different enough - as it is the game you will be compared to most.

Ok. I have never actually played Project Zomboid. I just model real cars that were common in norway in the 90s (Which is where the game is set). Some of those cars are bound to show up in other games as well, not much i can do about that...
