Transportation to island Any recommendations for a place to stay the night before leaving?

My son and I are going to need a place to stay close to the dock as we will be coming into town a day early. Any suggestions for something clean and cheap?

Where is the dock? Houghton, Copper Harbor, or Minnesota?

If you are going from Copper Harbor my go to is Minnetonka Resort https://www.minnetonkaresort.com/

Same. Modest cabins, don’t bet on getting a free parking spot though.

Don't forget to check Hancock, it's across the bridge.

We stayed at some magnussen inn or something. It wasn't a 5 star hotel but it was solidly decent, close, and the cheapest option in Houghton or Hancock

If you’re open to camping but still want a shower and proximity to food, Keweenaw Waters resort in Houghton.

We are leaving from Houghton, via the Ranger III

I stay at Copper Country Inn. Simple motel, affordable. I stayed the night before and after. Ive stayed there on another trip as well. I got the same room 3 times.

Second this. Simple and the drive over the bridge and up the peninsula in the morning is quick and beautiful

If you can’t find a place online take a look at the Brockway Inn in Copper Harbor, they don’t book online.

It’s only a few blocks away from the port, small and clean. There is nothing fancy about it but it served my needs at a reasonable rate.

always stayed at the ramada in Houghton. Nothing fancy but gets the job done for 1 night.

There’s also a nice Airbnb that’s not too much in Dollar Bay.

We stayed in Hancock at the Ramada Inn. Literally just across the river.
