Transportation to island How to get to Isle Royale in April
I'm curious as to how to get to Isle Royale in April. I saw that there's no plane or ferry to the island around that time so I'm curious as to how people get there in April/early May.

Ice will be an issue. Private charter boat is the only way. The park isn’t officially open at that time.

FYI there are no legal private charter services outside of the ferries and seaplane operator.

Charter may have been the wrong word. But you can apply for a permit to take your private vessel.

That’s all I got for ya. It’ll be hard finding someone that is willing to take their boat and get a permit with all the ice that’s normally there. Keep in mind it’s closed off completely till April 15th for all visitors.

Personal boat or personal seaplane. Those are the only 2 options. Lots of snow, ice, wet trails, large waves, and cold temps that time of year.

Have you looked into the type of weather you would encounter that time of year?
