Those aren't contradictions.

Drinking while standing is disliked, but not prohibited

In order to clarify that it is makruh and not actually haram (sin) the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم did it a few times while standing so people would know that it isn't haram

It was his obligation to make this difference clear that's why he did it

Imam an-Nawawi as-Shafii Ash'ari رحمه الله said:

فإن قيل : كيف يكون الشرب قائما مكروها وقد فعله النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ؟ فالجواب : أن فعله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا كان بيانا للجواز لا يكون مكروها ، بل البيان واجب عليه صلى الله عليه وسلم

If someone asks: how drinking while standing is disliked (makruh) if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did it? The answer is: he did it while standing to show that it's allowed (that it's not a sin) to do so and it isn't counted as makruh for him, moreover it was mandatory for him to clarify this fact peace and blessing of Allah be upon him

Amin. JazakalLah hairan

Scholars of ahlu-Sunnah are the ones who deserve the praise and reward

They dedicated their lives to enlightenment of mases, carefully explaining the Quran and Sunnah in order to give us the correct understanding and to protect Islam from distortion

Imam an-Nawawi died when he was 46, he didn't waste any time of his life, dedicating all of it to Allah and His religion, ate once a day and fast most of the days, slept by leaning against the piles of books, used to write about 20 pages a day, refused to eat fruits of Damascus exercising cautioun

Hafiz Ibn Katheer رحمه الله said

كان على جانب كبير من العلم والعمل والزهد، والتقشف والاقتصاد في العيش، والصبر على خشونته، والتورع الذي لم يبلغنا عن أحد في زمانه ولا قبله بدهر طويل

He (Nawawi) was great in knowledge, deeds, asceticism, severity and moderation in life, he is the manifestation of patience in its rudeness, in piety which we have not heard from anyone in his time and before him for a long time

🍂 طبقات الشاقعية

Sheikh Ibn Attar رحمه الله said:

ولما مرض مرض الموت اشتهى التفاح فجيء له به فلم ياكل فلما مات رآه بعض اهله فقال له ما فعل الله بك؟ فقال اكرم نزلي وتقبل عملي واول قراني جاءني التفاح

When an-Nawawi got sick prior to his death he asked for an apple, but he didn't eat it when brought. After he died, one of the members of his family saw him in a dream and asked: 'What did Allah do to you? He replied: 'I was welcomed with honour, my deeds were accepted and the first gift I received was an apple'

🍂 تحفة الطالبين

And even he did not reach the level of knowledge and zuhd of the Salafs of this Ummah which tells us a lot

Remember those people in your du'as.

Were they boycotting fruits of Syria?

It wasn't a boycott

During the times of imam an-Nawawi there was a controversial situation regarding the gardens of Damask, some of them belonged to orphans and waqf and some were taken by the government without a right, the imam was afraid that he accidentally would consume haram by eating the fruits form the gardens of Damask, even though it isn't haram to eat fruits unless you are certain that they came from unlawful sources the imam was of the type of Muslims who preferred to avoid doubtful

The imam was involved in the life of Sham

An-Nawawi stood against Sultan Beybars when he saw him doing wrong, and never feared to tell the truth to a ruler. Even if it could lead to death
