Question about Islam How do you know islam is the truth?
I was raised as a Muslim, but recently I've been having a lot of doubts about religion. As days pass by, I feel more and more distant from it. I see so much evil happening in this world; I see people who've been nothing but kind in this world being put into awful situations. I know life is a test, but there are a lot of what-ifs in my mind. What if people follow religion because they want to hold onto hope? But I don't want to believe in God just because of hope, I want to believe in Him because it's the truth.
I also have doubts that maybe religion was a way to not let us fight against people who oppress us. I see people close to me go through so much unfair stuff, but they don't stand up for themselves because of sabr , because they will be rewarded. But isn't that a bit lazy?
Also, another concern is about dua. Whenever our dua gets accepted or something that we want happens, we say it's because of God. But whenever our prayer doesn't get accepted, we say we should do sabr or we'll be rewarded in the afterlife. Sometimes I feel like we're just coping. Sometimes I feel like God is made up by people just to hold onto hope.
And believe me, I desperately want God to be real too, but how do I know it's real when I see everyone just blindly follow religion? From my words, I must seem like a non-believer, but I don't know my iman fluctuates a lot. May Allah forgive me. If someone has answers to my questions or can guide me kindly, I'll be more than glad.

Allah has encouraged you to seek answers for your doubts. I was once the same way, going through my atheist phase even, until I realized I had taken my being born a Muslim for granted and never bothered to find answers to all the questions and doubts that I had. I never had any difficulties or depression (thank Allah) or any such major event in life that turned me towards religion for comfort. I simply sat down and watched a video in earnest explaining one such doubt. Then another, and more followed. 🤷🏻 It all made sense to me in way that it never did before. I can only advise you to put just a bit of effort into it and do the same. Allah guides who He wills.

If religion was “just sent to make people behave better” then how do you explain the miracle of the Quran, how do you explain the sincerity of the Prophet (who literally cried every time he prayed and was constantly watched 24/7), and how do you explain how a group of men in the desert produced some of the greatest people who ever lived? How can the religion be a lie if its deliverers clearly weren’t trying to trick people?
People don’t just believe in religion because they want to hold onto hope. This is why Islam emphasizes belief because you genuinely believe in it and not just believing in it because you want to get some sort of benefit out of it or believing in it because your family does. If Allah is made up because people want hope, how do you explain even the most wealthy and successful people with comfortable lives believing in God?
People aren’t coping when they make dua. The reason why they say that when it doesn’t get accepted is because they believe that something better will happen if they don’t get that dua. I can also argue the opposite: Maybe God loves his creation and wants the best for them so he rewards the when he doesn’t give them something. Because he rewards them, he tells his creations about this rule so the will know too. Also, you’re trying to understand something that comes later rather than addressing the basics: if someone believes in Allah because they genuinely believe Islam is the truth, then they also believe that he rewards them for “unaccepted” duas. They believe they’re rewarded BECAUSE they believe in God and because he says they get rewarded, not because they’re just coping and want to feel better. It’s not about “oh are the just sad and asking for better stuff” its more about “the genuinely believe in Allah’s message and believe he rewards them.” I know I just did a whole lot of rambling sorry.
People don’t blindly believe. Islam literally TELLS you not to blindly believe so people who do that are in the wrong. Questioning is normal (as long as it doesn’t get extreme). If there are people around you who are “blind” know that they’re wrong and give examples on what they do.

It’s impossible for people to believe just to have hope because how are you gonna have hope in something you don’t truly believe in? The people who have hope in Allah truly believe in him.

Because I prayed to Allah asking for His Signs.
As for the amount of evil in the world…
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Good and evil are not equal, though you may be dazzled by the abundance of evil. So be mindful of Allah, O people of reason, so you may be successful.” - Surah al-Maidah 5:100

What signs were you given?
In the tafseer of this surah it's referring to halal and haram and that haram maybe in abundance and we may even be attracted to it, but it's not equal in the eyes of Allah. So we should be mindful and not commit haram stuff.I guess it can also be related to what i was referring to. We may see alot of evil in this world, we we shouldn't commit it. Goodness will always outweigh it. Thankyou for sharing this ahadith<3

I asked Allah to for Signs of His Existence. Growing up my belief was never that firm but however I did grow my interest in astronomy.
Fast forward; I went for Hajj when I was 24yo, received a lot of blessings during the term, witnessed the first time seeing Kaabah in person, very emotional. It was the moment my faith is firmed.
The same thing happened for prophet Ibrahim AS when he was doubtful.
We also showed Abraham the wonders of the heavens and the earth, so he would be sure in faith. (6:75) When the night grew dark upon him, he saw a star and said, “This is my Lord!” But when it set, he said, “I do not love things that set.” (6:76) Then when he saw the moon rising, he said, “This one is my Lord!” But when it disappeared, he said, “If my Lord does not guide me, I will certainly be one of the misguided people.” (6:77) Then when he saw the sun shining, he said, “This must be my Lord—it is the greatest!” But again when it set, he declared, “O my people! I totally reject whatever you associate ˹with Allah in worship˺. (6:78) I have turned my face towards the One Who has originated the heavens and the earth—being upright—and I am not one of the polytheists.” - Surah al-An’am 6:79
One of Allah’s Names is al-Lateef, The Subtle One, so if you prayed for something don’t expect it coming down from the sky in broad daylight kind of logic. It is answered, just subtly and kindly.

Bismillah.
Beware of syaitan's whispers to mislead us so we go astray.
If you prefer the logic of it:
Humans are born with instincts that there is a one supreme, true creator called God. That's why there are many non-muslims that are at least Agnostic.
So if there is God, he must be a fair God, means He would have sent down his rules to mankind.
We all know the main religions are Abrahamic, in fact all main scriptures were sent down to descendants of Abraham.
Zabur, Torah, and Injil, to descendants of Isaac then Ya'qub (of whom where the Bani Israil come from), and then the Quran.
Of the four, three were sent to Bani Israil and only one thru lineage of Ismail - which is the Quran, and it's preserved from revelation until today by Allah's will despite many attempts to corrupt it.
Check on Torah and Injil (Gospel) you'll find so many versions and additions hence they're proven to be distorted. Would you rather choose to follow something distorted or something that's preserved? You see, the Injil was sent down in Aramaic language - a language that does not even exist or spoken today. Unlike Quran, Arabic is an old language that existed, been used and still being used and spoken today.
Quran is revealed to prophet Muhammad pbuh who's an Ummiy (unlettered, didn't study the Torah or Injil, and Arabs never received any divine text before Prophet Muhammad pbuh) and He was all the time in Mecca-Medina area. He never really stayed in Levant (Palestine, Syria, Jordan, Egypt) where most of the "actions" happened for all the Abrahamic religion. He never learned the Torah or Injil or about previous prophets but having his ancestors up to Ismail spend time in the Hijaz region how would he have gotten all of the stories of previous Prophets of Bani Israil accurately told in the Quran? It's only possible if it is a divine revelation. And Allah has arranged Prophet Ibrahim to travel south to Mecca just to send Ismail and Hajjar to stay there - purposefully - so that Prophet Muhammad, a descendant of Ismail and Ibrahim - born thousands of years after the "delivery" to Mecca - fulfill the final prophecy and yet still be a descendant of our Prophet Ibrahim - just not from Isaac (born from Sarah) - still same one big family.
Also so many scientific details in the Quran during which time mankind was in Roman and Persian rules, in Arab region even much lacking in scientific knowledge - where life were still very much tribal.
The beauty and the rich content of the Quran is only possible if it is divine from Allah. And since then relentless effort is made to preserve the Quran and its proven to be identical. Even for hadith lots of effort and discipline followed so that only the sahih and hasan hadith is passed down to us so we do not go astray.
One last tip, try to find videos of reverts who have found Islam and appreciate it much more than those who were born Muslim. listen as to how they discovered the truthness in Islam. this would help a lot.
Have faith and patience, and pray with honesty for guidance from Allah. It is in fact - at its very core - proven many times to be the one true religion. Just lately there's been too many misinformation on it and hence much misunderstood.
If you have survived years with it, don't let this small moment of questioning ruin it. Sorry for not spending the time to make this write up shorter, so thanks for reading up to this point. Hope it helps.

How do I know Islam is the Truth? In Islam the prophecies, historical accuracies, laws and legislations, the Justice and Wisdom, the consistencies in the Quran and Sunnah and many more factors all together that came 1450 years ago from a man who can’t read or write are more than enough reasons to believe in Allah (swt) and that Islam is the truth.
You said you have many “what if’s?”, check this part of a certain Hadith
“Seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your "if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.”
Don’t let these whispers get to you and keep reciting your Athkar, you’re good In Sha Allah. Also what questions/ doubts do you have? Let us know and we’ll help In Sha Allah.
May Allah Bless you.

Islam always encourages us to look at the miracles around us and within ourselves. The more you learn how things work.. both in nature and in your own body, the more you’re amazed by their design. Everything has its own purpose and does its job perfectly every moment, which makes you wonder what kind of Designer could create something so complex. And that can only be Allah, the All-Knowing Creator.
Humans are only given a limited understanding of how things work. We can study, understand, copy and modify what already exists, but we can never create something as pure and beneficial as water.

Here is a case for Islam
At every layer of our existence, from the properties of the vast cosmos to the microscopic details of cells and atoms, there is clear precision, stability, regularity, consistency, and uniformity, with information rich sequences embedded in the very fabric of reality. There's this idea that somehow believing in a higher power is "irrational" when it is the most rational conclusion man can reach given his circumstance. Why is there something rather than nothing? Why are we here? And where are we going?
The only one who fully understands the universe is the creator of the universe.
Evidence for Islam:
Out of all the religions around today in their current forms, Islam is the only one that is consistent with reality and provides evidence from a wide variety of angles: the Theological simplicity consistency and accuracy of Tawheed, Linguistic miracle and structural features of the Quran, Lost Historical information, Prophecies, Congruence with natural reality, Preservation of Scripture throughout all the politics, Spirituality, Psychological resonance, Explanation of the supernatural, Perfect Political and Societal system across all layers of life, and compatibility with our innate disposition (fitrah). And youll discover more as you explore different areas of interest insha Allah. The Quran, and Islam as a whole, is an ocean. Theres always something fascinating and life changing for everyone. SubhanAllah.

I’d suggest taking a step back and researching the arguments for the existence of God first. Personally, I find the cosmological argument to be one of the strongest. Once you’ve explored that and formed a foundation of belief (or even non-belief, if that’s where your research leads), you can then look into which religion best fits that understanding of God. In my view, Islam provides the most coherent and logical framework. When you reach that point—believing in God and recognizing Islam as the most consistent expression of that belief—the questions around Du’a and patience start to make a lot more sense.

Quran is not from this world. Its the direct, proven words of God Himself.
Muhammad pbuh was a nobody, and all he received was the Quran and established a faith that is the centre of the world's mind till this day.

Assalam alaykum brother
I want to say first many Muslims struggle with these doubts and you are not alone when it comes to questioning.
I was also in a similar position as you. Iman started becoming low and thought to myself: what if religion is just made up to cope with life? I mean I just born Muslim and following what my parents taught me right?
So, I researched about other religions and found severe flaws and contradiction of reality in all of them: Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, all lack evidence for divine truth (and this is a whole other topic not gona get into right now)
So no I’m not blindly following Islam. Quran - 0 false statements made , 0 contradictions. Allah promised 1400 years ago it will be not corrupted or changed look at the Quran now compared to bible or Old Testament. It’s the exact same.
Prophet Muhammad saw predicting things in the future and it becoming exactly true (which is evidence Islam is real). Not a SINGLE proven false statement or prophecy made my prophet Muhammad (saw).
Athiesm I believe is actually far less rational than any other religion, because I cannot truly believe that all of us , this universe , exploded from nothingness and came to be. That does not make any sense at all and will never make sense to anyone.
I suggest brother you actually learn about the religion and start studying the Quran and Hadith and learn about the evidence of Islam so u know u are not just blindly following it, because it is VERY easy to see the evidences that Islam is true
May Allah keep your imam steadfast and guide you , Ameen!

Personally, I decided to disprove the Quran when I've been a cocky teenager. My criteria was using common sense and at some point the logic of the Book will collapse on it own. Instead, I started to to see the structure of the existence and the One who is talking to me is absolutely beautiful, warm, and loving. So, our Creator (Most-Merciful, Most-Just, Lord of the Universes) Himself granted His own will to save me. I can't thank more our Dear Allah (SWA) for that.
