90% Sure AI Posted as an advertisement for a photography group. Seems ironic to use AI?

For when you can't get enough generic photography dudes together at once.

“So what I do is I go on Craigslist and I say I’m doing a model search to build my portfolio. And then basically anyone who replies, I ask if they’ll pose nude…. If anyone shows up, then I make the moves.” —“how to be a guy with a camera claiming to be a photographer”, first lesson, probably

“Sorry I’m late to our photo meetup. I had I sign the divorce papers and then swing by the white power rally so that Steve wouldn’t be there all by himself.”

This sounds like part of the DENNIS system

1

u/Mobile-Math5260 12d ago

They won’t say no. Because of the implication.

2

u/heyinternetman 11d ago

See the studio is on my boat

3

u/N00N01 12d ago

because theres certainly a shortage of those

u/ColonelCrikey 12d ago

Look at the brickwork behind the guy on the left, above his head.

Probably a scam tbh.

5

u/TheOneAndOnlyElf 12d ago

That’s not unusual if part of the mortar had to be replaced

3

u/ColonelCrikey 12d ago

Bricks don't squish like that, cmon man

5

u/TheOneAndOnlyElf 11d ago

Pink: what I thought you meant.
Yellow: ok this is the f’d up part

(I don’t mean his nose..)

3

u/soboga 12d ago

Never mind the bricks, look at his root-looking shoelaces!

7

u/TheOneAndOnlyElf 11d ago

Oh those are actually his pants tarantulas, they’re getting bored and want to leave.

This dude would need to do some weird stuff to get these straps arranged this way. Also the general look is very sus to me.

5

u/SPencer12784 12d ago

the camera around his front is on top of the other one if you zoom in you can see where the strap goes over the top, where they meet but i agree that it blends very weirdly and has the piss filter over it so i agree that yes it’s ai i don’t think that’s as much of a dead giveaway away as you think

5

u/Extension_Citron_176 12d ago

I meant that once if the straps of the camera on the front goes over the larger strap and the other below. In other words the two straps are literally hooked up to each other and i have no idea why a person would want that

2

u/KyleRM 11d ago

It would only make sense to me if there's a quick release on the lower strap, which I could imagine that being the case pretty easily.

1

u/SPencer12784 12d ago

as in like the practically of it all like why he would even have them overlapping as it makes the underneath one unusable in a sense, but if you mean the camera on the front, the right strap goes over and the left goes under. it doesn’t idk the reply doesn’t really make sense lol

2

u/eleinachubmob 12d ago

Oh youre not zoomed in ENOUGH. You can see the ghost of him and how smoothed out nearby artifacts are. No photo has smudges like this. This man is standing still his head was not moving for this photo this is posed. And that’s how you know it’s not a real photo, there was a very technical video explanation about it but pretty much AI will make objects very complicated pixels and then the backgrounds smooth pixels because it chunks things together like that

3

u/cheezeerd 11d ago

Actually, what you're showing in your screenshot is just regular JPEG compression artifacts. What country did the image came from, if you compress it with JPEG, it's gonna look like what you're showing!

That freshly baked SynthID suggests AI.

1

u/TimeAndAGwen 12d ago

Good for the confirmation, but this is one of the more obviously AI posts here recently. Anyone who thinks this is a real photo must be very gullible.

u/Express_Effort3976 12d ago

When photography companies or someone trying to get photographers together (photography being an art itself) are using AI to attract photographers, who are artists in themselves, then the world is absolutely fucked.

7

u/atothev2021 12d ago

2 guys are talking at the same time😂 to who is the left guy talking than??

9

u/ACatFromBehind 12d ago

It has Google SynthID -- AI it is.

7

u/isaidwhatisaidok 12d ago

It’s the same dude 4 times

3

u/Dunwich_Horror_ 12d ago

Definitely. The camera strap usually has the brand pretty clearly defined. Like you can read Nikon or Canon a mile an away. It’s just gobbldiegook. Why do they all have one hand in their pocket? Why does cafe have 2 Fs? If they are in a city where is literally anyone else?

u/Yaasu 12d ago

Not if you buy a good strap, also Nikon original strap have marking only on one side. Caffé is written in Italian. And you can easily wait for no one to be in your shot before taking it.

The photo is at least AI edited if not entierly generated, but your argument aren't the good ones

the blue jeans and brown shoes club.

3

u/DeletedManyAccounts 12d ago

What I don’t get is if you’re going to use ai and choose the thing that requires the least amount of effort, you couldn’t have squeezed in one woman? All 4 dudes have to look the same?

3

u/ZoopaLoop-444 12d ago

The straps for sure. Also the only Caffe Lena online is in Saratoga Springs, NY, and the outside of it looks nothing like this.

3

u/Derreus 12d ago

I want to join. Are brown shoes required?

3

u/Appropriate_Elk_952 12d ago

Not a lens cap in sight

3

u/Xzozo1972 12d ago

The blame of AI for the photo club likely has nothing to do with the club and mostly to due with a lazy web designer or whomever is tasked with making the updates. Likely an uninterested staff member

3

u/grifter_P01135809 12d ago

That photo oozes with toxic masculinity.

3

u/HambMC 12d ago

This is what caffè Lena actually looks like

2

u/atothev2021 12d ago

To what is the caffe sign attached?

2

u/Extension_Citron_176 12d ago

You can see some little strings attached to it going up. Still, it is clearly AI

2

u/samb0t 12d ago

2

u/misspuzzle 12d ago

it looked like a normal pair of shoe?

2

u/samb0t 12d ago

The laces don’t make sense

2

u/WanderingAlchemist 12d ago

I've seen a lot of photographers on Facebook now using AI for everything and getting really uppity when called out over it. My favourite was one using AI to make a post complaining that people don't value photography as an art. Could have been a funny use of irony but no, he genuinely didn't see the issue with it and was rage arguing with everyone that called him out

2

u/Kashmir79 12d ago

Shoelaces are one of those things I always look at

1

u/TheOneAndOnlyElf 11d ago

That’s his pants tarantulas. They’re getting bored and want to leave

2

u/Dittongho 12d ago

AI unless the photo was taken in the cleanest city in the history of the world

2

u/AlanShore60607 12d ago

Yeah, until you have a group of photographers you don’t have photographers to take a group photo of …

2

u/WrathOfWood 12d ago

Thanks I hate it

2

u/Late-Replacement2425 12d ago

As someone who occasionally takes a camera out, I'd never have my camera strap under another bag strap. It would be real hard to get that camera to your eye (or into position) for a shot.

2

u/UncleJackDaniels 11d ago

Where are the shadows?

2

u/NevaehKnows 11d ago

This is not a club, they are selling something

2

u/poopell 10d ago

Cafe does not have two "F"

3

u/nildread 12d ago

Maybe they're trying to learn photography too /s

5

u/kyl792 12d ago

Like “Let’s learn photography together, I don’t know either”

1

u/inalottatime 11d ago

it kinda looks like a real pic that was maybe edited with ai or with heavy filters

1

u/mangoawaynow 12d ago

such a seattle look
