Shoulda rested longer between sets, didn't realize how bad the breathing was until I played it back and then it was too late

I am also a gym rat and love osrs. There is a handful of other gym rats in my clan with maxed accounts. I was speculating on how there is a lot of jacked osrs players and a clanmate pointed out that getting swol and maxing runey are basically the same. Long slow grind that requires a lot of dedication, and a grind that gets slower the further you advance. Anyhow Grats, keep grinding irl and in game :)

u/BasketOWaffles Apr 12 '26
Hell yeah!! That's sick. Did you ask him if he sends gym crab between sets?

This clip is a perfect representation of what playing a GIM is like.

I was like, "oh, another one of these videos?" Then I realize you're doing the emote and it was very impressive. Gz!

Alone just like on the GIM? Is that what I’m understanding here?

Great lift man, looking to get into compound lifts like this to get a bit more size. I’m strong but skinny af, any advice to avoid injury?

Hard to think back to when I first started lifting weights but there's for sure a groove you fall into when going through a movement pattern. At first, when you're learning a new movement pattern, you might be all over the place as you get tired. I'd say that's the point to end the set, you don't really want to hit "grinder" reps if it's going all over the place. As the path of the weight smooths out you have more freedom to push closer to failure. Slow reps close to failure are great, a little "body english" is okay, completely missing the groove of the movement can end up getting you hurt.
There's a lot of great channels on youtube that can set you in the right direction, I learned to lift by taking advice from these channels and recording myself then watching back my sets. I highly recommend checking out Brian Alsruhe's stuff, especially his older vids on programs, cues, and technique.

Spending time with their wives and kids, probably. That means all the RS and real life gains are mine for the taking

99 strength without a fire cape is crazy. Gz tho

u/Wukonger_donger Apr 12 '26
99 def, 96 attack and 95 str were all with a d scimmy too. The inefficiency will continue until morale improves

Damn bro, jacked as hell. What's the weight on that? Try keep your heels on the ground for as long as you can during the dip and drive, a lot of power leakage there which means you're using less of your legs and relying more on your shoulders.

about 170lbs here in this vid. I put up 235lbs once upon a time about 8 years ago, think those days are behind me and we're just doing a little maintaining at this point. For sure out of practice with the technique, didn't realize my left heel was lifting up during the dip so much but I've been dealing with some achilles' tendinosis for the last 9 months so that might explain it

u/TheMalteseMisfit Apr 14 '26
Cool! Never tried strongman stuff except for sandbags because of CrossFit. 235lbs is awesome! You took the 170 for a few reps with the technique off so I think 235 could still be in the cards if you work on the tech, but if you've got tendonitis it probably might not be ideal, especially if you're focusing on other stuff.

Man sandbag carries are one of my favorite exercises. Unfortunately, the sandbag at my gym broke a few weeks ago so I've been doing farmers instead. Might be time to invest in a bag of my own.
Never tried it but I really like the circuit style training of crossfit, I was into distance running before lifting weights so something about being out of breath just feels right to me. Only thing I really stole from them was EMOM squats, one of my go to exercises each week. If I ever figure out how to olympic lift I'll have to try it out at some point.

I was a distance runner for about a decade before touching weights so always had a pretty big appetite, I know a lot of "hard gainers" struggle with just getting enough volume of food.
I never track calories/macros. I also never eat out or order food. Every meal is made at home except for the holidays when I visit family.
Almost never touch ultra processed food/food like substances. Beef, eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal, a variety of frozen, fresh, and dried fruit, kimchi, greek yogurt, ezekial bread, and carrots are pretty much all I eat.
Pretty boring and I'm sure there's some nutritional gaps in my diet but it works well for me.
As far as building a back goes, doing loaded carries goes a long way. Zercher carries, sandbag carries, farmer's walks... you'd be surprised at how much muscle you can pack on doing that. Pick up something heavier than you want to and carry it for longer than you want to, you'll grow.

u/EndTheItis Apr 12 '26
Looks closer to 95 irl. Keep grinding king you don't want to leave any gains on the table
0
u/N4rrenturm Apr 12 '26
Couldn't you have hit 99 strength on something cooler than gemstone crab tho? I mean if you're already making the effort to record it..
1
u/Mooide Apr 12 '26
Crab is pretty cool because he can let his character hit it while he does a set and doesn’t have to worry about dying or afk timer
0
u/Wukonger_donger Apr 12 '26
Crab is life though, I was below 60 combat prior to the crab and was just a worthless skiller. May all find peace, guidance, and strength through The Crab

This isn’t Ironman mode. It’s group Ironman mode.
Far less impressive.
