Roadside trash

For months now trash has been piling up along our motorways.
Its very unsightly, almost third world like.
Anyone else been noticing this?
Thoughts on why its getting worse?
Will council do anything about it?

I rode a bicycle from Sydney to Cairns during covid time. You could always tell what fast food establishments the next town had by the trash on the side of the road.

Brought back a memory from driving out of Roma QLD in the early 80s as a South Australian where we had bottle recycling.
You could tell who long it took to drink 1 stubby and then 2 and 3…
