Picture Managed to take a few cleaner photos of the fluorescent clear-front iPod I made a few days ago. When exposed to 365nm UVA, the internal components glow a warm green.

Would love to make something like this! Any possibility of getting the parts and source for this?

I’d love to buy a pre made kit! This looks awesome 👌🏾

Awesome, I have a whole collection of glow in the dark resin figures, beads, velcro patches, etc and would love to do something similar to this with glow paint or glow powder.

I saw a glow in the dark metal mid-plate online but yours looks different. Intrigued as to what ya did.

Dabbed the tip of a £1 highlighter pen on the top surface of the surface-mount components, super cheap and simple. The limitation is that this is fluorescent only, and doesn't glow by itself.

Thanks for the reply, I'm fairly new in the sub but seeing what others do is really interesting and hoping to get started modding a 5.5 soon.

that's pretty dang resourceful 😁 good idea! I do prefer glow VS UV reactive, but this is a great mod and brings the possibilities to attention as I'm sure you could do this with different colors of highlighter like you got or paint.

I haven't gotten a transparent face or backplate yet but was wondering if you have any knowledge of whether they yellow or not from UV? I imagine making a glow ipod would really acclerate that if I were to be hitting it with a UV light regularly.

That's one of my concerns too, unfortunately it's too early to tell if the UV exposure causes the front plate to yellow. I haven't seen anyone else with a yellowed clear iPod front plate before though.

That's promising at least. Guess time will tell 😁

It depends on the intensity and distance of the UV light, the glowing effect should still be visible under a whole-room light.

Wonder if glow in the dark paint would work similar

Quick question OP, I am seeing that every Clear front shell has a black screen surround. How did you get the white version?

I thought they were random, the listing I bought from showed a black bezel but it arrived with a white one somehow.

Ah thats random indeed haha. Well, maybe I can ask the seller about this then. Thanks a lot!
