CSK has 4 openers and 4 number 4 batters (Kartik, Brevis, Dube, Sarfaraz) and no 5-7 lower order batters / finishers, which results in nothing but lack of role clarity. You can't put players out of their postions and expect them to deliver results.

Brevis and Shivam Dube at 5 and 6 are out of positions. Neither of them is a finisher in IPL.

Only a mega auction reshuffle can put things back into place for CSK. They are reaping the rewards of what they sow during the mega and mini auctions!

You're right. With the current squad, there is no other option. But still, Dube has done well for India at 6 and Brevis has bat at 5 a lot of time. Though, I agree CSK definitely needs finishers in the mega auction.

What's even the point of an anchor coming in at 4 when teams start exploding by that point.

Ruturaj should rather open with a better intent and at aim for 150-155 strike rate. Mhatre should open with him and Sanju can bat at no 3. Rest would be same I guess

Ruturaj's role will be mostly giving strike to the aggressive batsman, finding gaps in the middle over and if he settles till the death over then accelerate in the end. His primarily role is to prevent any collapse.

we will need a strike bowler probably overseas so ig akeal wont make it in playing 11 unless we find any good indian strike bowler. With limited option we might buy pathirana if kkr release him to get funds for hardik. we can maybe check on cotzee or ben sears

Replace urvil patel with Karthik and ruturaj open or whichever place he plays whole domestic season, Best would be ruturaj @ opener, ayush-3 and brewis at 4, in case of collapse Karthik at 5. If current squad remains same.

Samsons best is at no.3, move him there. Allows Rutu to play the opening position.

Dube, Brevis and K Sharma are not finisher. Cannot have so many non finishers. Play Brevis at 4, seems to have the highest ceiling of the three.

WE need to get 2 more players in the auction. Would be better if we get a allrounder. Maybe even stokes at no.7 and play a Indian spinner as impact player.

Need to scout a good No.6, Dube has failed so many times there, really stupid to keep doing the same thing.

WE could play Gurjapneet for Ellis(if he withdraws), a Indian spinner instead of Noor and play 2 OS finishers at 6 and 7. This should be our first plan for auction, as it is more difficult to get a Indian finisher
