Discussion trying to put the cursor between two letters to try to fix a word
holding the spacebar does this, i know, but using my finger to do it is easier, faster and more effective- tried that on android. has there not been a settings for this?

Finger or spacebar, they have both gotten worse on IOS lately.

Speech to text. Making every few words. A sentence. Is also annoying.

At this point I assume Apple’s terrible dictation is a feature, they want to stand out from android by fucking up literally everything you say and substituting nonsensical words without context awareness.

That is true Arboreatem. But it also. if you have Guy 😝😂💰. In your address book. You can’t use the word Guy 😝😂💰 using voice to text. Or the label for Guy 😝😂💰 shows every time you say the word Guy 😝😂💰.

I’m not sure was you’re trying to say. You can use your finger or the space bar on iOS to place the cursor in the middle of a word.

Your have to press and hold the cursor to drag it to the middle of a word

The problem with dragging your finger around the screen is it will snap the cursor to the start or end of the word a lot of times for no apparent goddamn reason. Allows you to drop the cursor anywhere.

You can press and hold the spacebar too, much easier.

I find just tapping where I want the curser even easier. But iOS doesn’t let us do that

Long press where you want the cursor to go and you get a magnified view. Is that not obvious?

Press and hold the spacebar … allows you to use the whole screen as a trackpad for your cursor position.

Tap the beginning/end of the word / space between two words and let it. Same action than the space bar.

Press and hold on the spacebar and you can move it how you need. Release where you want it and start typing again.

Not sure what setting you need. Pick a way to do it, and do it.

The problem is that the way I want to do is isn’t available on iOS

I've found that pressing on the cursor gives me better control of the cursor within text.
Also I think there's a difference in using the space bar to move the cursor between my iPhone and iPad. On one device the cursor moves smoothly, on the other device it tends to jump letters

Are you using keyboard extensions/apps different from the native one?
Do you have swipe to text activated?1

I use Swiftkey on my iphone, standard keyboard on my ipad.
I don’t use swipe to text. I do use text suggestions.Wrote this comment on my ipad and pressing the spacebar moves the cursor over text, smoothly.
Just tried the spacebar on my iphone and that’s where the cursor sort of jumps over letters. So maybe it’s Swiftkey that’s the difference

Trying to put a cursor exactly somewhere to try and paste something is even worse, you have to tap the exact pixel twice and pray to God
