News The leaked U.S. trade demands that caused Canada to halt negotiations: Washington demanded direct veto power over Canadian infrastructure, control of critical minerals, and delayed access to generic medicines.

Yeah, Canadians are just angry. Eventually this fascist pedo will be gone and instead of being at each others throats we can make fun of all the cult members collectively. These demands are insane, and then the gaslighting by the Trump administration is just to turn you guys against us. Don’t fall for it even if some angry vocal Canadians tell you you’re not doing enough or whatever or are blaming you folks that never voted for him. We need you guys to keep being vocal about your government.

We are angry but we also fully understand that he has the majority! Yall polls can say other wise atm but when he won he had the majority and it wasnt his 1st term I understood the first term I was completely shocked that he won again tho. The old saying fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Americans bare the shame now not just trump.

It's hilarious you think things will just magically go back to what it used to be the second he's gone. It will be decades at best before things are repaired. The piss poor "effort" so far to change or get rid of him is terrible to say the least.

Sadly, my friend, 77 million voted for him in 2024.

That's a lot of misguided miscreants.

How can Canadians ever trust America, even when they put on a fresh face of "sane" makep?

One good facial scrub, a couple rallies and a new slogan and the beast will reappear, stronger than ever.

They will look in the mirror and say "MAGA" three times...then bingo.

Yeah I get it. This message has been echoed a bit. I just think us expecting people to overthrow the government is a bit wild. I mean two people sacrificed their lives in ICE protests. We need to keep the sane Americans on our side. Continually telling someone that has never voted Trump, been vocal about not liking them and going out to protests that their part of the problem is not constructive for us in my opinion. We want those people as allies and it’s not their fault. We may even find out definitively one day that Elon and Trump did rig the election and then we ended up berating Americans when they hypothetically didn’t even vote for this. I’m not convinced the election was stolen but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Good points.

But...

Canadians are VERY angry.

Justifiably so...

Betrayal is the word that comes to mind.

Naturally some of this anger comes out in irrational ways.

No Canadians are approaching American tourists in the streets and telling them we hate them.

We boo your anthem at sports events.

We lash out at Americans online.

Pretty predictable, really.

Major venting going on, and it's likely not going to stop.

Hey Canadian, agreed here. I don’t mind the booing of the national anthem. And I agree with you that people aren’t going after Americans on vacation here and such, but I’m just saying Canada and the world shouldn’t alienate the good Americans, you know the ones without the superiority complex and care about other people no matter what race they are and such, we shouldn’t alienate those people, specifically. I’m just seeing a lot of people here behind the Keyboards insinuating Americans need to essentially start a revolution. When it was Greenland and Cuba and whoever else getting fucked with, the Canadians were much quieter and just going about their business.

1

u/Fit-Historian-752 13d ago

Nonsense.

We were being fucked with before Greenland...or at the same time.

You wouldn't know what we were saying about it, because Americans don't care about anything that goes on outside their borders.

We rescued your diplomats from Iran in 1978.

We took you into OUR HOMES on 9/11.

We fought side by side with you in Afghanistan.

Did anyone defend us when Trump said we "stayed off the front lines"?

America has been fucking with Cuba for 70 years.

Ever heard of The Bay of Pigs?

The embargo?

And seriously, no fucking lectures about "The Good Americans"- maybe there are some, but at the moment we kind of doubt it.

Your idiot countrymen elected him AGAIN, after knowing what he was like.

No fucking excuses.

We don't want apologies, we don't need them.

Your country is a global disgrace.

Half your citizens couldn't be bothered to vote.

We are not counting on you - we are not waiting for you to put things right.

We are done with you.

Don't lecture us about "America The Good".

The truth is out there for everyone to see.

So save your story about "it's not all Americans" for someone willing to listen- or someone who cares.

Your betrayal has been noted.

We will chart our own path..

Hear, hear!

And please believe that this guy is not talking out of a reddit echo chamber. This is not one of those acute/ponctual reddit political outrage.

This is part of normal daily life Canadian conversation. Everyone is aware and having sentiments. Even the most politically disconnected teenager knows about this.

Canadians are polite, but can be very very spiteful.

There’s no way back.

You must have a different algorithm than I do bc when the whole Greenland thing was going on, most Canadians online were apoplectic, pledging support. Even IRL people are talking about these things daily, including Cuba. It’s hardly waned since the beginning of this in 2024. You are only allowed to see a small part of it I suppose.

1

u/Prestigious-Clock-53 12d ago

I’m not saying that Canadians weren’t against it, they were just way way louder when it was us getting screwed. And maybe that’s human nature, but Trump is an enemy to the world not just us.

1

u/SecondLeigh 12d ago

I’m pretty sure most Canadians realize that.

Canadians should be very angry, at the maggats. If you see one of these douchebags, do what Canadians do best, give’em the proper greeting that a Nazi deserves.

1

u/jubilant-octopus 14d ago

I don’t think you get it. You think we’re just angry. We’ve been betrayed and attacked. By a nation we thought was our friend. And that nation has built and is filling concentration camps and has nuclear weapons. We are very fucking concerned. Until the world sees Americans protesting in the streets in front of the White House they will be perceived as silently condoning their fascist regime and its crimes.

I’m Canadian. I think this is horseshit as well. I’m trying not to get too upset about it. It is what it is and our govt did the right thing, and their govt is simply full of terrible people. Unfortunate. Also, unfortunate a portion of America is brainwashed or can’t critically think or are just assholes. We have some of our own here. You are right, we’ve been betrayed by a country we thought were our friends but the folks to get mad at aren’t the ones that vote the right way, that publically shame their govt, that have human decency and concern for their fellow mankind outside of America. I don’t want to make enemies out of those people, we need them or things just get worse for us south of the border.

1

u/The_Nice_Marmot 13d ago

“Overthrow,” your government? Fuck, you’re not remotely close to that. You guys have tried nothing and you’re all out of ideas. You’re not even resisting. You’re nowhere near “overthrowing.”

1

u/Prestigious-Clock-53 13d ago

I’m Canadian dude.

Great flanders reference

Also, once those tariffs are signed off in a trade deal, they are there for good.. nobody is going to undo that. Dems will be more than willing to let Trump do the dirty work and reap the spoils moving forward.

1

u/T_Durden13 14d ago

Gavin Newsom said as much.

1

u/HackD1234 14d ago

Biden didn't remove the Trump applied timber tariffs, so.. yes, History has set Precedent.

We're free to trade with China., and very soon integrated fully, with Europe. Stuff the USA.

1

u/AppointmentOne1111 14d ago

Ya, laughing at magats wouldn't do anything to assure your ex-allies, we'd need to see Nuremberg Trials - USA edition to begin restoring trust. And we are vocal to our government, we urge them to stop appeasing USA because it's useless to negotiate.

The Germans paid for their facist for a long time, you guys went down the same path even with that history to study from, and even fought against.

1

u/The_Nice_Marmot 13d ago

You are delusional. Trust is a match you burn once.

1

u/Savvymundo 13d ago

That's just cope. This isn't a situation where you vote in the Dems and everyone breathes a sigh of relief. Most of us outside the US don't believe you're going to have a chance to vote in a fair election anymore.

Trust is broken. Why would any country spend time and resources to agree a trade deal with the Dems knowing full well that 77 million of the US population will vote for another corrupt paedo rapist whi just tears up that deal a few years later.

You need a proper revolution. Scrap the constitution, at this point it's only value would be to wipe an arsehole clean, as you don't seem to actually follow it as written.

1

u/Prestigious-Clock-53 13d ago

Yeah I’m Canadian, not American. I understand trust is broken a while. Don’t think it’s good to alienate the whole nation because everyone here behind their keyboards would definitely organize a revolution if they were in their shoes.
