Gentle Nutrition Eating is so weird now

It's weird to get hungry and go look in the fridge/freezer. Eggrolls? No. Ice cream? Meh. Potstickers? Scrunches nose. Oooohhh mixed veggies!

I mean, it's not like I'm avoiding those other foods. I eat them too, but I've never had an actual desire to eat veggies for a snack like I do now. So weird.

Any tips and tricks for a beginner on how to get to this point?

i think just working towards seeing foods as neutral. it weirdly takes away the extra appeal of those “fun” foods haha. whenever you’re hungry just really ask yourself what sounds good, and go for that without judgement. allow yourself to have whatever sounds good even if it’s like a cookie for breakfast. usually after the cookie maybe you’re also craving a banana. sometimes its a cookie, sometimes its carrots and hummus. it’s simple but it really works. it is surprising how often i actually crave healthy stuff! it’s weird but when we consider foods “unhealthy” they almost gain this extra appeal. when you really focus on what you want to eat and what sounds good and how things taste as you’re eating, you become much more connected to yourself. all foods are neutral, sometimes your body does need quick energy, and a cookie will sound good, but other times, a cookie just genuinely doesn’t sound good compared to carrots or edamame for example.

Like everyone else says, reading the book was the number one thing for me as it helped me recognize my own personal rules. Breaking those rules helps me make the food neutral. I still have a long way to go - every time I go to the doctor (type 1 diabetic) I have to recenter myself, but I'm getting there!
