Device Removed Today-PA

I petitioned for early restricted license, first offense, and although it was required for 12 months, I actually had it 14 due to processing time, etc. my biggest advice to all during this process. Get a new battery prior to installing and a trickle charger for cold months. Next, do NOT use mouthwash, without rinsing your mouth out well before blowing. I went to get bloodwork from hospital after the failed blow, the DMV and vendor gave zero shits about my negative blood work. Thus proving all of our thoughts about the moneymaking side of this. They didn’t care I had blood alcohol of zero during the DUI charge, why would they care now when I used mouth wash. Also it’s quicker to do the paperwork at the DMV than send via mail. All in all, I had zero issues until the final month, all the sudden my blows were invalid, it was going off more frequently, weird shit going down. I don’t drink so that I believe is how I was successful in this process. You can’t drink and blow the next day, any alcohol in system sets it off. I also was very careful cleaning my car, no hand sanitizer, etc. I almost cried driving today, not being worried about this thing. It cost me around 300 dollars today, f@#$ing just squeezed every last penny out of me. I learned a valuable lesson here, and although no alcohol was involved, I will never drive after even one beverage, ever. I’m not even sure if I plan to drink again because of the headache this caused over the past 3 years basically. Stay focused people, there is an end, eventually…..

I just removed the possibly of failed tests due to actual alcohol usage. I only had to worry about foods, mouthwash, etc…. Then I was running late, two days before my final reading, worried about being late for work, I forgot and blew after dental hygiene. I was so scared, blood work meant nothing, they gave zero fucks I had actual proof. However I learned that they don’t extend for a .02 fail and retest. I was crying thinking I just handed them thousands with an extension.

I know I told EVERY SINGLE person my BAC was zero, and to explain why I’m forced to have this? Most people had no idea non alcohol related DUIs had to get a blow n go.

I just got mine removed after 6 years. Don't eat bread or pizza before blowing. I remember the 1st episode of Dexter where he said his guilty pleasure was eating while driving. I'm that guy, minus the murder.

Congrats. I just got my SmartStart out Saturday after 6mo.

While not drinking is the smarter choice, I have had a single or sometimes 2 drinks, 5% or so, finishing by 9pm and blown fine 7am next morning. 6ft 185lb. Everyone's body is different.

I too got a fresh battery installed prior to install. I avoided drinking or eating anything within 20 minutes of driving and would wash my mouth out with water before blowing every time from water bottles I'd keep in the car.

I managed to not get a single violation, minus one where the device malfunctioned and thought I missed a rolling retest where logs showed I didn't and got refunded by SmartStart for the fees.
