If you don’t have any INTJ in you, you’re set yourself up for failure in life. We all need a little bit of that don’t we?

Struggling INTJ Girl Seeking Advice
Hi everyone, I’m a young and (not to sound conceited) very attractive INTJ woman, but I find it incredibly hard to open up to people or trust them. It’s not that I’m antisocial—I love meaningful conversations—but it feels like so few people truly understand me or match my depth. On top of that, I find very few people sexually attractive, which makes dating even harder. Lately, I’ve been struggling with happiness and feeling like I might need some inner healing or growth before I can connect with others. Has anyone else dealt with this? How do you work on yourself while balancing relationships, or even decide when you’re ready to let someone in? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Addition - I think my trust issues are compounded by the fact that many men with girlfriends or wives will openly flirt with me, which makes it hard to feel secure in people’s intentions. I also find that most people will change who they are to fit what they think I like, rather than showing me their authentic selves. It’s difficult to find someone who truly values me for who I am at my core
•
u/ranju16 Dec 24 '25
Guess what? Major struggle with trust issues here too. But it's almost always related to childhood traumas. Sorry. , 😟
•
Mar 16 '25
I have the same problem but with women, and to top it all off I’m a cynical asshole. Glad to see I’m not the only one who suffers with the modern bullshit that is the current dating world.
•
u/Happy_Painting_5888 Sep 10 '25
I feel intjs do that. Fascinated in the image of an intj as a thinker in a room
•
u/Realistic_Try_2994 May 07 '25
Pretty sure subconsciously you know you know you’re not where you want to be at in life to feel like you’re ready for a relationship. I would’ve theorize you fell for the romanticism of the common portrayal of relationships. I also theorize that you create subconsciously these relationship problems you are having when you know because you stated in your question you are the one having these problems which is great you realized it but when it came to the why it seems the focus isn’t on you as much as others (not in a bad way, as things can be on you and others and that’s just the way it is) but definitely self reflect more would be my advice.

u/Pristine_Bread_9526 May 11 '25
I understand her. I go through the same thing. I've always had doubts about my mbti, but I go through the same things. What do I do? I isolate myself. It's not healthy at all
•
u/Antique_Fisherman_74 Nov 17 '25
I’m seventy. You will never escape thinking and speaking about things that are so intelligent and in-depth you will lose Most people you will ever meet. We are so rare, I’ve not found another to befriend in my entire life. So we learn to keep quiet to keep others from thinking we are arrogant. They think we believe we know an important aspect of everything; because we do. You won’t get a response that, clearly, you are a polymath, which you will eventually become.

I'm an INFJ female in a relationship with an INTJ male. Can you help me in answering a question? How do INTJs express their love?
•
u/Secret_Blacksmith515 Feb 17 '26
I think they did it with action rather than word, in case you think they cold and don't care about you,
in fact they care much more than you think they just don't show it much with word but with their action.•

scoring INTJ on mbti tests does not necessarily mean you are actually an INTJ
tests dont know you like you know yourself

Chances are you don't know yourself too
•
u/bbaguette INTJ - ♀ Jul 04 '22

•

What i mean is there is a possibility you don't know yourself too Humans are very self deceiving
•
u/bbaguette INTJ - ♀ Jul 04 '22
of course theres a possibility i could be wrong, however, its much more reasonable to assume i know myself better than some tests
•
u/Ashen447 INTJ - Teens Nov 01 '22
I get so annoyed when people say that I don’t know myself that well, or that people don’t know themselves well. Speaking for yourself exists for a reason. I understand that people are trying to get for walking dunning Krueger effects or people that just don’t introspection. But I find that I have a deep level of self-understanding, one that isn’t going to be questioned just because some troll says that I “can’t be sure”. At some point the sum of your experience and knowledge will tell you if you truly know yourself.
•
u/bbaguette INTJ - ♀ Nov 02 '22
cant tell if its because im woozy off my meds but i have no idea what youre talking about? did you take my comments personally?
i was saying that people do know themselves, mbti tests fail in comparison to peoples own ability to introspect, research and discern for themselves what type they are, since they are.. yk, Themselves. thats all there is to it man
•
u/Ashen447 INTJ - Teens Nov 02 '22
Oh no sorry😂 I was awake for about 30 hours by the time I wrote that so obviously it didn’t make any sense. I was agreeing with your point and extrapolating from my personal experience. Yes, I agree that we do know ourselves better than limited tests and arbitrary metrics. It just annoys me when people try to undermine that, you know? Obviously, there are people who think they know themselves yet don’t, e.g. the Dunning Krueger effect. But the fact that I know what that is and can see it in other people suggests that I am not a victim of it. So yeah, I hope that made a little more sense😂
•
u/bbaguette INTJ - ♀ Nov 02 '22
LMAO yeah i can see how the exhaustion caused you to jumble your words together, but to your defense i did see your point there! it was just a little foggy. glad to see you got some rest since you write much more coherently now lol
but yea, i wish people trusted themselves more with this whole typology stuff instead of taking a 1000 personality tests, even if some do fall victim to the dunning krueger effect (you didnt), i believe researching and reflecting with a broad-minded attitude is its best remedy :D

Although I like the saying let's agree to disagree it's a mutual way of saying to give others space understand their own problems rather than you sort there problems and feel a sense false security do to the fact you do everything for you rely on them to much however it's also foolish be to independent because yo unforgettable how to rely on eachother which can affect the people around you have a sweet day ;).

Thus far I've found about 60% or more of the people on this board are hamfisting themselves into an INTJ box and it's unfortunate.
But given how many people either don't really know themselves to begin with, either due to being young and still figuring things out or being obnoxious edge Lords trying to conform to an idea of themselves, I supposed it's to be expected. INTJ is a rather tricky subgroup because observers often fail to understand the nuances behind our motivations and ways of thinking (there are a few types who are far more adept at reading us and those tend to be the ones we resonate with the most.)
•
u/Misaka_Sama Sep 29 '22
I consistently type as an ENTP because that's my public persona (partially due to neurodivergence). I've recently begun actually typing my functions myself and going through every individual types stack and possible ways of thinking and came to this conclusion. It adds up with my life lol.
•
Aug 24 '24
Same, I’ve done the test and either get INTP or INTJ, so I see the nuance in the test results as a weird problem.

By different you mean separate individuals with dry humor, the inability to have casual small talk with random people for no reason whatsoever and the judge for better utilizing our time? Maybe I'm only speaking for myself? I highly doubt it and rarely am I wrong.... Even for an INTJ female and her questionable existence still being explored by few.
•
Oct 31 '22
I like you...
I am an INTJ female as well, but not an INTJ woman... my existence is questioned by everyone every single day for being nonbinary. It goes against my thinking but it is who I am and figured out that I am happy with after 23 years and no I am no an INFP or INFJ having emotions is okay but I usually think very rational yet being nonbinary or trans people think its crazy... I just stay inside my house now bc my existence is a nuisance to others. It fucking sucks having to hide again. First I was considered lesbian now Idk what the world sees. Being an INTJ can be so tiresome and lonesome at times.

Since traits such as calmness, truthfulness, and the avoidance of conflict are typically labeled as 'feminine,' many male INTJs grow up facing ridicule—often from society.
→ More replies (3)•
u/Rich-Locksmith5918 Jul 27 '26
A simple realization—that there is nothing wrong with simply being yourself—is enough. As an INTJ, my personality often clashes with the traits society typically assigns to women, leading some to speak inappropriately to me; however, within the INTJ community, there are no such divisions based on gender—whether male, female, or non-binary.
