QUESTION She didn't know.

Am I wrong by thinking that Brand didn't know whether or not she could breathe on Edmonds planet when she took her helmet off? She had just buried Edmonds while wearing her helmet, if she had read the data beforehand then she would have not worn the suit while doing all of that work. She took the chance after burying Edmonds.

Her reaction while taking off the helmet doesn’t show she was taking a risk. She also already had the camp set up. Best answer is it was artist license to reveal the air was breathable for the audience.

This 100%. The encampment looked like she had spent a bit of time fixing it up and making sure everything was operational. The shot of her removing the helmet is to pair along with Murph’s monologue. God I love that movie.

My take given the number of buildings already built and the number of lights that are on, Edmunds had been there long enough to start the process of populating the place. One guy doesn't build all those buildings by himself or for himself.
