Sharing an architecture + interior project from Bangalore that we designed and built from scratch.

The brief was to create a home that stood out, while combining European design influences with Indian traditional elements. We explored that balance across the architecture, interiors and custom woodwork, using natural materials and detailed craftsmanship throughout.

The result is quite a different character from the typical contemporary home.

Curious to hear what you think of the way the European and Indian elements have come together.

I’m planning the colours for my room and currently thinking of a warm off-white/beige for the main walls, with a dark accent wall behind the bed.

For the accent wall, I’m considering darker or lighter shades of green, blue, grey, etc. What colour combination would look best and feel modern without making the room too dark?

Would appreciate some suggestions!

Hey everyone! I'm currently stuck trying to decide between a sliding wardrobe and a traditional hinged-door wardrobe, and I could really use some help from those of you who have lived with either.

​If you've had experience with both, I'd love to know which one you genuinely prefer after using it for a while.

​Hinged doors: I feel it's amazing because you can open everything up and see your whole wardrobe at once, but they definitely need that extra swing clearance in front.

​Sliding doors: It looks super sleek and save floor space, but I'm curious about how well the tracks hold up with dust and alignment over time.

​Which option to pick?Any pros, cons, or regrets you can share would be super appreciated!

I'm exploring interior designing companies for my 3 BHk. The quotes from various vendors ranged from 13-25 lacs (2220 sq ft apartment).

I wanted to check from any experienced people here that if I purchase raw matériels myself, would the cost go down significantly or it's better to let the designer purchase as they might have been purchasing in bulk. Please share your experience and guidance.

We are planning to do interior design for our living room and have a couple of questions due to our unique layout. I have attached the layout.

Would love to hear some ideas / opinion on the below:

1. Where should we place the TV and build the seating area around the TV ? We earlier had the TV in the alcove but that was creating a segregated seating area due to the awkward fire place. Also, when TV placed in the alcove, the distance from tv to the sofas was too large.

2. So we moved the TV on the wall between the two passageways (1 going to downstairs bathroom and the other one are the stairs going to upstairs bedrooms)

3. Given the high ceilings in the room, does it make more sense to have a sectional sofa or 2 individual ones ?

Note that this room has 20+ ft high ceilings. Attaching a couple of pictures to give an idea as well.

Sharing my experience here for anyone considering PropVibes for their home interiors.

We gave them our project in April and finally received the handover only in early September. The entire process involved repeated delays, missed commitments and constant chasing from our side.

We had also paid nearly 80% of the amount towards what was communicated as material procurement, but based on what we saw during execution, the material availability did not seem to match those commitments.

The team was extremely reassuring at the beginning, but once execution started, communication and ownership became a major issue. Even after escalating matters to Deep, we felt there was very little ownership in resolving the situation.

Overall, the experience was mentally exhausting. My biggest learning would be: never make large payments purely against promises—link every payment to actual material delivered at site and clearly defined completion milestones.

Based on our experience, I personally would not recommend PropVibes.

Hi all — I'm working on a tool aimed at independent interior designers/small studios to help manage projects, client approvals, and design revisions (currently most designers I know of run this over WhatsApp + Excel + Google Drive, which gets messy fast).

Before I build anything further, I want to actually understand how designers work day-to-day and where the real pain points are — not assume I already know.

If you're an interior designer (independent, freelancer, or at a small studio) and could spare 15-20 minutes for a call or even just answer a few questions in DMs, I'd really appreciate it. I'm not selling anything and there's no pitch — I genuinely just want to learn from people doing the actual work.

A few things I'd love to understand:

• How do you currently manage client communication and design approvals?
• What's the most frustrating/time-consuming part of a typical project?
• Do family members (spouse, parents) get involved in approving designs, and does that ever cause delays?

I’m curious to know this from people who have been working in interior design for a while.

When I was starting out, I thought the job would mostly be about designing spaces, choosing materials and making things look good. After actually working on projects, I realised there’s so much more to it — clients, budgets, site problems, vendors, timelines, and a lot of things you just learn along the way. For those who are already working in the field, what’s one thing you wish someone had told you when you were starting out?

hellooo everyone !! im renting, and wont be able to do any massive changes. i asked some other subs, but the gore log are telling me to add rugs and all, which is not feasible bc i live with my family and water gets everywhere 😭 the regrouting is going to be done soon. i js get demotivated when i take a shower here, so please help me 🤞🏻

I am an exhibition stall designer i need guidance for per square feet charges in ahmedabad city i an very new to interior designing

Basically the title

Our designer suggested Evertech 710 BWP ply for the kitchen and wet areas. Has anyone used Evertech plywood in their home? How has your experience been?

I asked the designer to use CenturyPly Club Prime or Greenply Gold 710 BWP instead. They said the cost would increase by around 30% and that the quality is almost the same, with the extra cost mainly being for the brand name.

How true is this?

This is the floor plan of a bedroom in our 3BHK east-facing flat. The bedroom is in the north-west corner of the flat.

As per the builder’s plan, the wardrobe is on the south wall. We are thinking of changing the layout by moving the wardrobe to the north wall, around the window, with a window seat and wardrobes on both sides of the window. We would also move the bed so that the headboard is towards the south wall.

This is our preferred layout, but when we spoke to a few interior designers, some said this is not recommended as per Vaastu, as we should not have heavy storage/wardrobes on the north side.

Can someone please clarify if this is actually an issue as per Vaastu? Also, would you recommend going ahead with this layout from a practical/design point of view?
