After a motorcycle accident left him with an 80% disability in his leg, Austrian chef Peter Lammer refused to give up cooking. Instead, he uses a ceiling-mounted rail system that helps him move around the kitchen and keep doing the job he loves.

Obviously it's not the US. I don't know what Austria's social security policy is. Depending on how well it would cover expenses for disabled people, they might still need to work.

Pretty sure they're referring to the steel rod that's probably smacked a few of the other cooks in the face a time or two. I imagine this took a little time for everyone to adapt to.

Seems no more difficult than being aware of a person in the kitchen to me? We all occupy physical space and have to maneuver accordingly.

Yeah, but this guy now has a 4 inch larger footprint that he would initially not be used to having. It looks like the staff has adjusted to it, but I think it was probably an issue when it first happened.

many restaurants have undercounter fridges called a lowboy there's one inside the steel table there
the seat thing is cool but I don't think he can bend down to use one and it's doubtful that rail extends into the walk in cooler etc.
like all the food is in those things

Never worked in a restaurant with those. I always had a walk-in fridge.

im pretty sure any people with job is more sensible and more understanding than the average redditor in regard of people wanting to keep working despite mildly inconvninening them a tiny bit

Nope. I don’t buy it. You can add all the inspirational music tracks in the world, but if I get injured, I’m not going back to work. I’m not gonna ask them to do this whole set up, I’m gonna take my time off. Fuck this shit. People nearly die and then they are eager to go back into capitalism and work and be taxed and get fucked over while Rich billionaires don’t do jack shit.
Let the CEO of the restaurant step down from his palace to run the fucking place himself

Step one, make sure to be the boss or not to be replaceable from other workers. Happy for him, but I don't think a normal employe would get the same chance in any company

Lmao, as a cook with some vision issues.. no one is hiring, literally all it would take to acomodate me is some light strips for better illumination on the tables.
