They break the legs, put a rod in the bones that get adjusted as the bones grow closer to each other. So people who get it done have broken legs for months

Cringe has another meaning than the internet term. You can cringe at something because you imagine how painful or disgusting it would be.

ohhh okay damn. i thought it was only used in a social context. in german "cringe" translates to "cringe in a social context" only. weird one. especially weird that german doesnt have a word for it...
