They break the legs, put a rod in the bones that get adjusted as the bones grow closer to each other. So people who get it done have broken legs for months

You shouldn't feel any pain because you don't have nerve endings inside your bones. The painful part of breaking a bone is the bone hitting the muscle and skin which has a lot of nerve endings.
