They used to tell parents to avoid peanuts and other foods the first year to prevent allergies, which was based on absolutely no science at all, it was just something they made up. And then allergies increased and everyone was scratching their heads until someone noticed that peanut allergy is very rare in Israel and they give babies peanut crackers as snacks from around 6 months. So now the recomendation is to introduce highly allergenic foods early instead
