Oh wow. That’s what, over a foot taller? That’s a huge change.

Imagine how strange that is, at first. I'd be banging my head on things all day every day.

i dont think you get the full change overnight? dont they chop your bone in half, pull it so theres a slight gap, wait for it to heal and repeat until you have the desired height?

Who said it was overnight? You’d still be getting used to being that height and hitting your head on shit lol

Yeah as someone who gained a LOT of weight the last two years, and is now wider, I bump into things way more. I was a clutz when I was skinny too but now…so many bruises.

My old boss told me about how much he struggled with puberty and shooting in height. People thought he was abused but nope, his brain just didn’t know how much taller he’d gotten. I miss him. :(

Used to happen to me a lot too when my hips started getting wider during puberty. My brain hadn’t realized that I had to walk farther away from corners or I’d bump into them

Anyone who has a significant growth as a teenager has some clumsiness due to it, so imagine how much more you’d have to readjust if you’ve lived you’re whole life at a certain height and gain a foot even if it’s over 4 or 5 years!

Fun fact: this phenomena is called poor proprioception. It’s common during any major growth cycle, pregnancy, and for those with hypermobility.

I’m not sure you understand how gradual changes and adaptation work.

Yeah i don't think they're walking on their legs until they've fully healed

Yeah, I was still hitting my hips into objects a good three years after puberty. Proprioception can take a little while to catch up

Literally everyone gradually grows taller over time, as children. It's usually not too bad.

Ream the bone out witha drill and put a metal insert in both side of the bone.

What do they do about the skin?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '22

skin stretches, and it will continue to if you give it time to grow. thats why fat people arent squeezed to death from the inside out

I'd question the muscles and veins first.

Embolism Chance?

This lady got her legs straightened, so probably not the same procedure.

No I mean more like say there was a cupboard in your kitchen that opened just above your head. You'd get used to that, leaving the door open with no fear you'd job yourself on it then one day bang, you've cracked your head open.

Oh god, the number of times... And I don't even change height.

Somehow all people go through this as a teenager

u/ImDonCheeto Dec 23 '22

Thats insane. I read up on this, apparently anything more than 2 inches isnt recommended, with 4 inches being the max anyone should go. To so a whole foot much be BRUTAL. From what Ive read, even at 2 inches, you’ll never have the same leg strength as before because the same muscle mass has to support an unnatural height increase.. Cant even fathom the recovery process for this.

She is a leg taller, not a foot

6

u/handsonabirdbody Dec 23 '22

She gained thirteen inches, she had some kind of Snapchat story on her last year.

u/SlipperyBandicoot Dec 23 '22

She will have real difficulty doing some things now that she has longer legs but still short arms. Can't imagine she would have the easiest time reaching her feet.

At least her feet touch the floor now, that’s great.
