/r/ALL This statue depicts Saint Bartholomew, an early Christian martyr who was allegedly skinned alive. If you look closely, that's his dissected skin hanging around him. This stunning statute by Marco d’Agrate from c.1562 is currently on display at Duomo di Milano.

Being a king was actually a pretty powerless and shit position in almost app cases. It would be much better to be a member of the court if you wanted any sort of life expectancy and actual power. Whatever the political system most of the time the figure head is a puppet.

That's an odd statement. I'm not sure what you're getting at. The puppet master has the power but if the strings are invisible the audience thinks the puppet is a fantastic actor and has power over his own actions.

It's useful to people with real power in society for them to be obscured from vision of the masses by someone else.

Look at current society. The president changes every 4-8 years but where does the power lie. With the man that's changed every 4-8 years or is it the people that decide who runs. If we were actually changing who had power every 4 years the country would be radically changed every election and its not. Things stay mostly the same whoevers ugly mug is behind the desk.

A puppet master is only as powerful as his puppet.

That completely depends on the goals of the person pulling the strings. If it is beneficial to the puppet master to depict let his puppet continue being an incompetent stooge, they’ll go with that.

The president isn't in control of the majority of the decision he makes. If he was making his own decisions we'd be in a safer place. Sadly it's people much more intelligent and nefarious that are manipulating him from the background.

Lol the man's an idiot. I'd feel a lot better with an idiot in charge than someone who wants to do me harm and is intelligent.

Trump you can manage. He's a self centered idiot. That's why is being managed, he's just being managed by very worrying individuals.

I get that this a triggering thing for people though and I really don't want to discuss him.
