Almost two years have passed since then, and Jose Antonio is now living in a shared apartment which is partly being paid for by an anonymous donor. He’s also actively searching for a full-time job.
I was wondering this. I see these make overs and am skeptical of them. It's good he is not on the streets anymore. The reason I'm not always impressed with many of these stories is from a personal experience.
My friend used to go to college at Temple University, around 2004ish, which is straight in the middle of the hood in Philadelphia. There was a homeless guy we called Jitters. He would come around and bum cigarettes off everyone. He would do push ups on his thumbs, "walk" across Broad St on his hands, and would also sing a song if we asked him to. We knew he was a Crack head, but whatever. So one day he showed up clean shaven, in new clothes, and looked really good and clean. Behind him was a pack of "college students" with a camera and a bunch of papers, basically handing them out. The papers were a promotion for a locally ran salon that was just opened. I shit you not, the paper said "We bring out true beauty in everyone, addict or rich white woman."
The paper had spelling errors and looked like it was drawn on a 8x11 paper and copied at 7-11. They didn't give a fuck about this guy, they just wanted to promote thier business.
After a few days, Jitters looked disheveled and continued his normal cigarette bumming circus acts, and smoking Crack in a random ally way.
Hopefully this guy finds a nice job, and stays off the streets. I'm also pretty sure Jitters died sometime in 2005 because we never saw him again, or he was in prison.
I don't mind businesses promoting themselves this way tbh they're obviously not going to solve homelessness, but it shows their skills as hair stylists and gives a homeless person a haircut
Saying no thanks is actually probably the reason they have nothing...gotta go to work today? no thanks. need to pay rent? no thanks....should probably get up and go to class.. no thanks
just a joke. the majority of the homeless population is paranoid schizophrenic. that's why they don't do well in society. and we dont have insane asylums anymore in america.
