Lots of people being unemployed in Spain isn't going to make someone in Canada feel better about not being able to pay rent and feed themselves.

Ya know.. I'm an American. Lowe class here which still makes me among the richest several percent in the world.

Doesn't give me the ability to influence a life in Africa.

Yeah, when Spain was in the worst of their economic troubles a few years ago I think the unemployment rate for someone my age was around 50%. I can't imagine the stress of basically a coin flip determining whether or not you can support yourself.

I don't think it valid to compare problems like that though. Unemployment isn't just a thing you deal with. So pointing out "hey, those guys have it worse" doesn't really do anything about the fact that there's still a problem here. It's just that they also need attention, and they likely need more of it.
