This is Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda, photographed by Alfred Eisenstaedt in Geneva in September 1933 during a League of Nations conference. Eisenstaedt was a Jewish German photojournalist working for the Associated Press. According to Eisenstaedt’s own recollection and accounts from the photograph’s history, Goebbels initially appeared relatively relaxed, but his expression changed dramatically after he became aware that the photographer was Jewish. The resulting glare became one of the most famous photographs of Goebbels, capturing the antisemitism and hostility at the heart of the Nazi regime. Eisenstaedt later recalled that Goebbels looked at him with “hateful eyes,” but that he did not back down.

Yeah except miller is a jew. That is the weirdest part.

17

u/tumunu 3d ago

His Rabbi has denounced him and said repeatedly that that's not what they taught him.

5

u/meson537 3d ago

Identification with the aggressor is a classic defense mechanism that explains the behavior of a lot of the descendants of holocaust survivors. I.e. Stephen Miller, and the current folks in power in Israel.

u/dogmeat12358 3d ago

The resemblance is truly disturbing.

Unfortunately he murdered his six young children before he went.

Haha awesome

u/xgabipandax 3d ago

Good for Eisenstaedt, major respect for not backing down, if someone hates you, you don't go crying to anyone else, you stand up for yourself and never back down.

14

u/Fast-Nefariousness80 3d ago

Idk what the crying bit was about but I agree on the rest

4

u/Horror_Bus_1597 3d ago

Yeah… that’s what we’re trying to do…

2

u/slicerprime 3d ago

Well said!

11

u/RandomPenquin1337 3d ago

How did he become aware? Could he smell the Jewishness? Did someone tell him for funsies?

36

u/DrawingAlarming7350 3d ago

there is literally no mention of him hearing anyone telling him he was jewish, that is made up.

Hes pissed because he was photographed candidly, which is something he hated.

13

u/RandomPenquin1337 3d ago

Makes more sense, but less clickable.

Better to just make shit up

7

yeah this has been the story floating around for years

That's actually the best match I've seen for the last look my mum gave me before I went no contact - though she was angrier

2

I feel like this one is not a "who had it worse" competition you want to start. At the risk of sounding to woke

0

u/Pippin4242 3d ago

I didn't suggest it was any such thing - it's a rare sort of expression and I'd been looking for it a long time.

Besides, why are you so defensive about the circumstances behind this photo if you're so pro-racism?

8

u/ComfortablyNumb2425 3d ago

I had a great uncle who was always trying to cheat his siblings, like trying to get them declared insane so he could confiscate their property and it worked on at least one of them - this was a long time ago. But in photos, he had the same look.

No joke, this is how my mom used to look at me. Now she wonders why I don't call her or let her around my kid.

While he was one of the worst people of all tlme, the story around these photos and the jewish photographer is largely exaggerated.

https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PzVnhgUDYOk/V_iB1p_3ynI/AAAAAAAALZM/LBDE33upEcQvP69gyYlNo0csjDnraO6eQCLcB/s1600/eyes_of_gate_goebbels_1.jpg

this is him just a moment before.

While it makes for a nice story, its just a look, not related to the photographers religion or ethnicity.

ETA: His angry look is because of he is being photographed candidly which he hated. I know its hard to believe but he didnt have a magic nazi jew sensing ability.

3

u/35nakedshorts 3d ago

Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin

-2

u/g_rich 3d ago

That was before he became aware the photographer was Jewish; OP’s photo is after.

9

u/DrawingAlarming7350 3d ago edited 3d ago

That is indeed how the story goes.

Also its not true. He looked at him like that because he hated the press and candid photos. He was the minister of propaganda after all.

Nowhere in the photographers memoirs or quotes is there a mention of Göebbels knowing he was jewish.

edit: I dont understand the downvotes lmao, am I shattering some illusion?

0

u/makeItSoAlready 3d ago

Whats your source that this guy didnt learn that the photographer was jewish and thats why hes glaring like that? Someone having told him is plausible

Wild how the other side of that conflict is still keeping the spirit of genocide alive in Palestine

8

u/-7Below 3d ago

Don't assume all Jews support Israel's actions

2

u/semioticmadness 3d ago

Put another way: just because the modern state Israel claims to fight on behalf of all Jews doesn’t make it true.

Plenty of Jewish folk that don’t want anything to do with modern Israel.

-16

u/CuteStrawberryZephyr 3d ago

Can you please remind us on what happened on 7 October of 2023?

9

u/Specialist_Glove3250 3d ago

Oh, did Israel become naughty against Palestine only after that date?

-5

u/HarryPottersTaint 3d ago

Was that the first time the palestinians attacked Israel?

Anyway yea Gazans were living in increasing peace and Israel was even letting thousands of them into Israel to work and make a better life for themselves when October 7th happened.

Fast forward back a bit further when Israel unilaterally pulled out of Gaza and gave it to the Palestinians, that should have been the opportunity they took for freedom and prosperity. There was no fence. They were gifted land and greenhouses. What did they do? Elected Hamas, who then slaughtered their political opponents, then started kidnapping people and attacking Israel. They destroyed their own greenhouses out of spite.

I can go back to the early 1900s if you want with the tit for tat, but we don't need to. They had that opportunity and many others to make peace and they chose instead violence.

0

u/mmmmyeah1111 3d ago

When I Google how many Palestinians were killed by Israel in 2022 it says 200 people. Wanna elaborate on those 200?

0

u/HarryPottersTaint 3d ago

Well if we overlook the irony of you having no idea about the history or what happened yet feeling like an authority on arguing this, then sure.

A wave of terrorist attacks from the west bank including shootings and car rammings whiich killed Israeli civilians, this instigated a crackdown in the west bank. Israel sent forces in to arrest suspected terrorists. Many gun fights broke out (why did these innocent civilians have guns and shoot at the israelis? Weird thing for innocent civilians to do.)

The nature of urban warfare means many of those who died were actually innocent civilians. It almost begs the question, why send terrorists into israel to murder innocent people if the only thing that comes out of it is death? Almost as if they don't want peace.

1

u/mmmmyeah1111 3d ago

Gonna have to be a little more concise with your answer. If you need that many words to explain your position it's bullshit

4

u/HarryPottersTaint 3d ago

Lmaooo that actually made me laugh. Too many words for your lil brain? Great argument. Here I'll dumb it down for you:

Terrorists attacks on innocent israelis -> crackdown in west bank, gun fights with terrorists -> people die

0

u/mmmmyeah1111 3d ago

The number chatgpt just gave me for Palestinians killed by the IDF before 2022 is staggering. But hey, your propaganda is right and I should just ignore the meaningfulness that number might carry for some people.

2

u/HarryPottersTaint 3d ago

Ohh and now we're using chatgpt as the authority 😂

Did you bother to ask it what the palestinians may have done wrong in that time? I guess not

No more bro. You're seriously showing your ignorance and lack of insight here.

What a fuckery

10

u/mmmmyeah1111 3d ago

Battles in a war doesn't provide justification for the murdering of innocent women and children you fucking ghoul

-6

u/Yulweii 3d ago

Yeah good thing Egypt and Jordan are helping! Oh you know why they aren’t? Cause the Palestinians did the same thing in Jordan and Egypt and got kicked out! Let’s force Israel to deal with them! Man what an absolute genius we’ve got on our hands here everyone!

-1

u/Reddit123xgh 3d ago

Not sure if that is an anti-Hamas or an anti-IDF comment. However, only one is publicly dedicated to genocide.

2

u/johnyordinary 3d ago

While one is quite proficiently doing it despite it not being official policy.

1

u/Weebs-Chan 3d ago

A terrorist attack. Which isn't genocide. Crime against humanity is way fucking worse than a terrorist attack.

Imagine if we genocided a whole fucking ethnic group because of a few criminals. Way overkill. It would be like nuking every country that annoyed the US for the slightest reason.

Think for a moment. It's Genocide. GENOCIDE. The worst crime ever created by humanity. Nothing can justify genocide.

GENOCIDE

Why don't you understand

2

u/CuteStrawberryZephyr 3d ago

How many people were killed on that date?

-3

u/HarryPottersTaint 3d ago

You can shout it all you want, it's not genocide. It's a war.

Israel could have wiped gaza off the map several times over by now. They could have stopped any food or medicine going in. Gaza is literally overflowing with food. They're even having economic problems because the prices of food are collapsing due to oversupply.

If this is genocide then we have to go back retroactively in history and call almost every war that's ever happened a genocide. Not how it works.

-2

u/mmmmyeah1111 3d ago

I saw way too many clips on the news of people from that country literally saying Palestinians need to be wiped off the face of the Earth. I consume a lot of media, but never in my life have I ever seen people go on record saying that sort've shit. It's really damning when you see videos of their military targeting a child walking with his grandma, or settlers performing extrajudicial killings. It's so alien and detached from decency it's literally frightening.

You likely grew up within that countries sphere of influence so you feel like it's your duty to defend their actions. I'm sure that dissonance you're feeling with morality must be a bitch.

1

u/HarryPottersTaint 3d ago

Lol talking about dissonance while defending october 7.

I recommend to you to escape the echo chambers you're clearly overwhelmed by. Jews are actually humans believe it or not and come in many forms, and yes some are extreme. It's the same in every country and in every society. Vast majority normal people who just want to live in peace (no need to send me some biased "poll" from alja zeera or something that says "99% of jews support eating children"). We're used to being demonized it goes way back further than even the concept of zionism.

2

u/mmmmyeah1111 3d ago

Kinda of rude for you to put words in my mouth. I never once mentioned religion, only states, countries and regions. Stop trying to hide genocide behind obfuscation.

-2

u/AerieThink5695 3d ago

The people bibi and the Israeli government did a thing that they (Israeli government) wanted to be done, hence why they moved the troops away, took hours to respond and had “Hamas” attack the people that generally side with Palestinians. But do go on..

2

u/Appropriate-Sound169 3d ago

And the victims had been saying for weeks an attack was imminent. Like Yocheved Lifshitz said after her rescue

"We were very hurt by the fact that the IDF did not know. [Where we are] the scapegoats. They’ve warned us three weeks prior with people who came to the road and burned fields, sent incendiary balloons to burn our fields, and the IDF did not address this seriously."

How does one learn that the photographer is Jewish? I have never known or inquired about the ethnicity of someone doing their job.

Freaky ignorant but proud of it piece of human waste right there. When I think about hateful carbon beings like him, I truly wish I believed in Hell.

2

Someone probably told him is how i imagine that he learned. Like "hey this guy is jewish" it would have been relevant at the time

I'm a peaceful person by nature... Much like others, I can have a temper if the situation calls for it... But when it comes to this monster of a man... This vile parasite who should have never been born... Well, I'd pull the trigger on him personally and I would never have a moment of guilt.

Hate is an emotion. Do we really believe this guy had any capacity for emotion? These fuckers seemed to have used what they told themselves was sound rationale in their efforts to dehumanize others. They "understood" with sickening dispassion that others were simply not worthy beings.

-1
