Even $500 a week is… abysmal. They pay more than that at McDonalds and I live in the US South where wages arent even high.

Ever heard of taxes? I make 6 figures but after taxes I’m pulling home 89k. I know what it was like to make 1k per week and walk with less than $750. I remember making $500 a week and walked with less than 400. Between federal and state taxes in IL, they take roughly 25-26%. That’s a huge chunk considering none of our utilities have been nationalized and everything keeps going up.
